Hi

I'm feeling a bit out of my depth here with all the expertise and rather fantastic kit out there, but if improvements are to be made who better to ask than the people who have already been there (wherever 'there' may be).

My system is-

Linn Sondek LP12 & Origin Live motor, Ittock LVII arm carrying a Denon DL103 cartridge.
CR Development 328 Orpheus intergrated amp
Denon tuner
Epos 15.2 speakers
Rotel CD player with a DPA converter
Interconnects are home made from a design suggested by Graham Slee
Speaker cables are CAT5

Cheers!

Hi Ken,

Welcome to the forum :)

We're all learning no matter how much experience we may have, so please offer us your thoughts and opinions.

Nice system - another DL-103 fan I see!

Marco.

Thanks for the welcome, I hope that I will have something to offer the forum, even if it is's only to say DON'T DO IT!

Are you using the "Twisted Twins" design for your speaker cables?

No,just a single run. This started as an experment, I just wanted to see if a difference could be heard, and as I run the speakers single wired rather than bi-wired it was easier that way.Sooo out come the Kimber and the CAT5 stayed in. The twisted pair is an option for later.

Just as an extra, the individual strands are twisted in a star formation, is this what you mean by 'twisted twins'?

Hi Ken,

I'm new too!!

It seems that people are down to earth here. I read in a mag once that a poor chap joined another forum and just got agro from other members because he owned an LP12. This sort of thing doesn't seem to happen here. If it does "They" must delete the posts.:lol::lol::lol:

Paul,

You can rest assured that no such brand 'evangelism' occurs here. We all have our favourite gear, and are passionate about it, but that never strays into anything more sinister and unconstructive in terms of slagging off what people use. I would nip that in the bud very quickly if I seen any evidence of it :)

Gentle 'ribbing' and banter though is fine!

Marco.

Hi Ken,

The twisted twins is a cable recipe found on TNT audio-http://www.tnt- http://www.tnt-audio.com/clinica/triple_t_e.html using CAT5 cable. It can be wired for single or bi-wire.A few of us on other forums have found it to be a very good cable for not much wonga. If you like the cat5 thing, give it a whirl.

Thanks for that

Thanks to both Pimalsea and Marco, thanks for the replies, but it's a surprise that you would think that I would be ribbed about the 12 rather than the choice of CD replay!

Ken,

LP12s have more 'cult status' ;)
