Hi Guys,
It's great to finally register on here and introduce myself. My name is Zainul, and have been running AmpCity for the last six months or so.
We deal mostly with DACs, headphones and headphone amplifiers. Now I know most of the discussion on here is stereo based, but what with sensitive neighbours and thin walls, a lot of people have been interested in getting a headphone rig that rivals their two channel setup (and in many cases outclasses it a much lower outlay).
What I think will be of most interest to you guys, will, I think, be our range of DACs from Audio Gd. Not very well heard of in the UK, but they are insanely popular with the online community (just take a look at head-fi). The price/performance of these babies are fantastic - if you take a look at the insides of one of them you will see just how well they have been designed and implemented. We are looking to launch these in a big way in the UK, so watch out for upcoming reviews/loan programs etc!
About me personally, well not much to say really. Listen to music around 4-5 hours a day and can't seem to stop late night sessions! Sounds so much better, probably due to the quality of the mains I think. One thing I am really interested in is getting a proper turntable setup - reading around the forum it seems some of you guys are incredibly knowledgeable so I look forward to getting some good ideas about putting together a decent rig.
In any case, this is where my ramble ends. Comments/questions/suggestions please shoot away!

Hi Zainul and welcome...
Since you seem to like it here already, for a first sensible turntable it just has to be a Techie 1210 I reckon. I'm still a huge Rega fan and the Pro-Ject decks are well liked too, but as it's the AoS you're talking to, the Techie is "the one." Buy one in stock form, fit a cartridge it likes and then proceed on the upgrade path. many of the feedback issues probably won't matter too much using headphones, but mats, power supplies and basic feet should be ideal long before the truly expensive upgrades out there...

What kind of budget do you want to spend on the Turntable
Do you want a Turntable that will just give stunning performance straight away or one that you will have to modify (sometimes its part of the fun). With Turntables so many options. Once I get my Salvation set up you more than welcome to hear that but I would only suggest this if you serious about a quality TT
The Techie definitely looks interesting, was always marketed as a deck for DJ's but looking through a couple threads people seem to have had good results with it. Seems I can also pick up a used one at a decent price from a friend of mine so that may well be the way to go. Budget isn't high as I would like, at the moment I could put together around £600.
I'm definitely a tweaker, will be investigating all options for the deck, definitely will want a new arm, cartridge, phono stage, power supply etc - just a matter of having the cash to afford them! A lot has been posted on here already so will be going through all the relevant threads. I'm all for spending an afternoon taking apart something and working out exactly how it all carefully comes together, a dying art in todays age I think.
John, I would love to have a listen to your salvation, Crickelwood is only about 20 mins from me. Also very interested in those OB speakers I see, they look absolutely stunning. Did you make the frame yourself as it looks very well put together?

Great bunch of knowledgeable persons here (I ofcourse exclude myself)...
As regards Audio-GD (http://www.audio-gd.com/En%20audio-gd.htm) equipment, I am fully familiar with it, as I have owned the DAC-19MK3 since July 2009, the stuff used with it is listed in my sig...
If you like the tweaking side then the 1210 might be the better option I contact you when I get the TT I think you should hear both before you decide which path you wish to take
The open baffles are bloody marvelous and boy do they rock but can do acoustic jazz well too I got the baffles built by a joinery shop, so just a question of putting it all together

@jbloggs - How are you finding the 19MkIII within the context of your system (esp with the PMCs)? Easily one of the best sounding DACs at its price, especially with the PMD100 filter. Unfortunate that it has been discontinued but the newer versions are equally as good.
@ John It would be great to hear the TT, do let me know once you have it and I can pop round. That being said I am in final negotiations with a DJ friend who is willing to let his 1210 go for quite a steal. Needs a bit of a cleanup but then I guess thats part of the fun...
Open baffle is something I will definitely be looking at in the future. Currently using the ATC SCM11s which I am quite happy with but there is always scope for an upgrade!

A nice sounding DAC, goes well with the PMC's, have used it with the PMD100 filter from the beginning, the other one (DF1704) is still in its original box/packaging...very pleased with it.
With speakers always best to hear as many as you can. Open baffles are not for everyone but work fine for me.

Cheers for that, haven't as yet used a pair of PMCs with our Audio Gd gear...
John, will definitely get round to auditioning a pair of open baffles. I may go down the same route as you and build a unit. Nothing as fancy as yours (which look truly stunning), but surely a project to consider after getting the TT setup and running smoothly!
