View Full Version : Hello from Shropshire
Hi all,
My name is Steve from Telford in Shropshire.
Current system is Squeezebox 3 Classic with Beresford Caiman Dac, Naim Nait 5i and Kef iQ5's.
Latest addition was the Beresford and even tho its still running in has provided that WOW factor, I believe there are many tweaks and upgrades that can be done to both the Squeezebox and the Beresford and is my major reason for joining this forum.
Look forward to recommendations, advice and forum banter (:-)
Welcome, Steve. You'll find lots of advice on the Caiman here and plenty of forum banter in general :)
Hi Steve and welcome to AoS.
I had Stan @ Beresford fit a Gator board to my Caiman before he shipped it. Its £24.99 plus £5 shipping if you are going to fit it yourself. As far as I am aware it doesn't affect your warranty. http://www.homehifi.co.uk/products/Gator.htm
Although I have not heard a non-Gator'ed Caiman I can tell you that since installing the upgraded Caiman into my system it has improved playback quality considerably from both my CDP and lappy. Highs are sweet with an analogue feel and bass has better definition with far more extension than I've experienced before from my system. Imaging is detailed with good separation between instruments and performers and the soundstage has greater depth and width. From what Stan and fellow forum members have told me, the Gator upgrade significantly improves the performance of the Caiman.
All the best...

The Caiman is my first DAC which I stumbled on by searching for replacement power supplies for my Squeezebox. I decided I was not quite ready to part with £200 for a linear PS and (thankfully) went for the Caiman instead.
Would be interested in opinions on alternative PS for Squeezeboxes.
I will definately consider the Gator upgrades once I have run in the DAC
