Hello,
I thought I'd introduce myself. I've been lurking around the forum for a few days.
My current setup has recently been sourced second hand from Ebay and Gumtree.
Thorens TD160B ADC LMF-1 Shure VST-V. The ADC might be replaced soon when I finish off refurbing an SME 3009 MK2. £200
Teac VRDS 9. Contemplating a new dac or making a new board for it. £100
Linn LK1/Dirak/Lk280 £300
Linn Saras on sand filled Target MR60's. £100
Linn interconnects and Grave Audio speaker cable.
Total cost so far has been roughly £750 and I quite pleased with it.
I've just started listening to music at home a bit more. It's nice to finally find the time.
Hifi history for those that are interested started with a Dual 505-4 Arcam Alpha and Heybrook 0.5's from Lasky's many years ago. The Dual got replaced with a Connoissuer BD1 with a 3009 and VST-V. The BD1 died after a bit so the arm and cartridge were pulled out of it and stuck on a shelf and bought a Project 1.5. Got myself a Marantz Cd52se (think that was the right model) to play little shiny dics on.
Then I walked into a hi-fi shop in Gothenburg as I was a bit bored one evening. After a couple of evenings listening I walked away with a Copland CD-288, CSA 28 and a piar of QLN1's. This sounded very pleasant.
A year or so later I walked into a shop in Stockholm looking to buy a new interconnect. This was a bit costly as I ended up with a Wadia 16, AR VT130se and ML SL3's. Connected up with Purist Audio Maximus and Kimber 8TC. It cost a few quid but I've not heard cd sound better.
This lot got sold after a move as it didn't get used much anymore.
Now after a few years gap I'm back to music listening again.
Music tastes are REM, Clapton, Antonio Forcione, Blues and a little bit of most things.
Regards
Mark
p.s. pics will be along in a bit. Promise.
