Timestep 21V PSU for the Technics SL-1200 series turntable. Transforms the performance of a standard deck. Plenty of installation instructions and help are available on this forum. List price £299, asking for £100.

Herbie's Way Excellent 295mm diameter, 4mm thick mat. Superb damping for the platter and good record coupling. Note this is the full diameter mat imported from the USA, not the slightly smaller version cut for the Technics. List price $74.95, asking for £30.

Martin, these have served you well in the past and I would imagine you must have a little tear in your eye waving goodbye to 'em ;)? Must be like dumping the wife for a new exiting mistress? Just my thinking for the day.

I have a TS HE PSU to fit which I bought awhile ago but have mislaid somewhere, and the wife assures me she's been no where near it:steam:

In due course I will have to give consideration to Paul's marvel, guided by the enthusiasm here, but first off, has anyone clapped serious attention and ears on the Timestep HE PSU in a side by side comparison with Paul's. If this has been done in depth in the AoS please point me to it :)

What concerns me is the amount of ill will that is directed at DC might add a modicum of bias, human nature and prejudices being what they are, eh what :scratch:

Now before everyone one starts jumping on me from varying heights, DC has annoyed me in the past as well and thats why I changed religeons from Timestep to Aos although I still have a sticky beak over there now and again... there are a couple of good guys who post there.

I do shed a tear as I loved what the Timestep and Herbies did for my deck and I know they will help someone else take their first step towards Techie nirvana. I'm afraid I never got my hands on an HE despite trying to order one at the time of its release.

I don't bear DC any ill will at all and am sad that he chose to distance himself from us, but I do consider that to be his loss not ours.

Andrew (REXTON) and I will shortly be swapping PSUs for a week (he has a Timestep HE).

Therefore, when I receive Andrew's HE, I'll be auditioning it in detail and comparing it with my SR5, including photographing what's under the hood to allow the technical people amongst us to see the quality of components used in its design compared to those in the SR5, and form their own conclusions in that respect.

I will then be producing a full-write up on the sonic differences between both PSUs, using my T/T as a reference, both with and without the MN platter, for everyone's perusal and future reference.

I believe that Andrew is well up for this, but should it fall through for any reason, we could always do it instead! :cool:

My feelings about DC are well known, so I won't repeat them again, least of all on your advert. However, one of the silliest things he did was banning you (and deleting your account) from his forum! Why I have no idea.....

In reference to the sale of your Timestep PSU, I'd PM David from Mains Cables R US, as he expressed some interest recently in obtaining one :)

Chris - yes, I believe that moving the tag made a small but worthwhile improvement. You can unscrew the plate holding the cable relief and just pull a little more cable through.

Marco - the PSU comparison will be most interesting. Unfortunately, now that I've fitted the 4-pin Neutrik connector to my flying lead, I cannot easily swap PSUs for comparison any more.

Cant bloody wait matey :mex:I suggested leaving the comparison until the end of this so that all my stuff could bed in and so that i could get used to the new sound. In one month I made some massive upgrades to the 1210, I replaced the mike new bearing, mike new platter, mike new armboard, mike new bearing brace (I SHOULD BUY SOME BLOODY SHARES IN MIKE NEW :lolsign:) optimised the innards, mounted a SME V, installed isone feet, made some sorbothane decoupling mounts for the isone feet, and made my own custom platter mat to decouple the record from the new platter and installed the TimeStep HE external power supply. I did this at the beginning of December and now I just beginning to enjoy the fruits of my labours. The only gripes I have about doing the comparison is that :-

1. I'll have to go vinyl cold turkey until the RS5 arrives.

2. From the current murmurs going around AOS forums it sounds like I'll be
dumping the TsHE for a RS5!!
