Interconectivity query

I am wondering if this is just a question for Anthony for a mod to my amp... I'd like that to case but can't afford to pay for his time at the mo anywayso I'm looking for a temp, cheap solution

My majik ds has line outs and pre outs (it has its own preamp)
I have both plugged into the valve pre
I use the line out for serious listening as I have convinced my self the line out sounds better than the pre out
But the pre out is useful as when I have mates round or what not when the music in the background it's nicer to use the pre out as I can control the volume with my iPhone ....
With this in mind it occurs to me that if i could find a way to take the line out and connect it to the actives directly, as well as connecting the valve pre to it with the line out from the majik connected to that...
So basically I want to be able to connect 2 things into the 1 connection on the back of the actives ...

This would give me the advantage that I could use the hifi with or without the valve pre in line - this gives me the advantage of not using the valves for tv watching, and casual listening. Hannah can also use the system without the valves which make no odds to her as she only uses Spotify anyway... And my pecious valve will last longer :)

For others considering this route, a certain pair of active speakers we think we know (but few here have actually heard, let alone at home), has digital AND analogue inputs with a remote control preamp as well.

Hamish, maybe your preamp could have a "direct" feed wired up so the variable output of the DS could be fed straight through it while keeping just one set of interconnects to the Adams.

Yeah that's what I was thinking Anthony could do at some stage ... But I want a quick fix

You could try it Hamish - use some RCA splitter adapters. You may find that the volume pot of the one you're not using affects the output of the other. So be sure to turn the spare right down.
I don't think you'll come to any grief if it doesn't work.

Ok... In my head that seemed like it wouldn't work ...
But now you mention turning down the one not in use it makes more sence ...
Nothing will go back the wrong way down the splitter and cause issue?
Maybe I'll email Anthony and ask him to look at the thread to be sure ...

If he says it's ok at least I can not worry about damaging the pre for sure ...

So what is a good splitter ... I imagine some sort of T shaped connector?
And where can I get one from ... I think I have seen them in maplin, would they do?

That might do it or you might need one with a male & two females, depending on:
1. How many interconnect cables you have
2. How long they are
