No1: A job. My business crashed at the end of September and I now need a job but in the middle of rural North Yorkshire with no transport, it's not going to be easy :(

No2: A pair of Sterling Broadcast Monitors in ebony finish but of course the job has to come first :(

No3: A holiday for my partner Janet and myself which will be the first in five years :(

Other than that, not much ;)

Good luck with that mate hope you get a job soon.

For me it's a promotion, as i'm wasted in my current role (my opinion)

then to get to see my kids more, as they are over in Spain with my ex.

HiFi wise and in this order, a new sub as my old Yammy struggles with the real lows, a better set of stands for my main speakers, and finally to finish the mod's to my Pioneer A400 amp (decent caps cost a bomb), i've done the smoothing caps and replaced the bridge rectifier (thank's for the advice andre ) but there's still a bit of work to do.

Yeh sorry to hear that mate, i know what it's like when someone you're close to has the big C, in my case my dad and my gran, i hope you're way off mark and your better half gets better. :cool:

hi ali,sorry to hear about your partner here is a link to a video which has alternative ideas/solutions with dealing with cancer ect.

I don't know your views on these subjects but i send this link with the upmost respect.

Keep thinking positive though m8, it can help in surprising ways :)

As for me

Want:- to give up smoking but i need to give up drinking to do that & i would like to get some damn work done if my blasted back would let me & i make some room to do it :eyebrows:

My partner Janet was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2008 and had the op to remove the lump also in 2008. That year saw the chemotherapy with the radiotherapy being 2009. In 2010 she is all clear but has to be checked every six months or so. In truth, what can you do. Pray...? That's all well and good if you have someone to pray to, I don't.

Sorry to hear of your business crashing, finding a job is sometimes not easy.
More so when you have worked for yourself.

As you know I have been through the jobless thing in recent times.

Believe me, there is work out there, it's just knowing where to look.
Also a touch of luck helps too.

1:Get my vintage stereo finished to perfection :cool:

2:Buy all the CD's i have listed on my CD wants list (Amazing how you work you goolies off with overtime & extra shifts to just blow it all at the click of a mouse) :(

3:A new job with the same money, less stress but smaller hours, i say this as i've a venture i need to get off the ground that will please the hifi fraternity :eyebrows:

Ali: My heart goes out to you & your partner.
Shaun: I hope you & your good lady get back on your feet, i can't immagine being out of work, i suppose i should be thankful for the job i have.

What do I want for the new year ? nothing.....however for Ali healing for his partner and for Shaun a new job, one that he will love and will best use his talents and skills and his partner to remain healthy.

No real 'must haves' - though I'm hankering after a pair of ML2 monoblocks, would like to try out a separate DAC and rather fancy an Ortofon SPU.

However such whims are nothing if one doesn't have one's health; so with that, my thoughts and best wishes go out to the partners of Ali and Shaun. Here's hoping that 2011 will bring good news.

Thank you, Ali. It happened in 1999 but it still hurts.

I consider myself very lucky to have beaten cancer myself and to have found another wonderful partner. Life takes funny turns like that.

Yes, losing a loved one is indeed a sad situation to be in. I also lost my first wife, over 30 years ago now. I remarried in 2009.

I have a would like for 2011 - Spotify to be available in Australia.

Health and happiness for my partner and I would be nice. I cannot possibly ask for more but there is a bit more of a downer I'm afraid. My partner Janet has a twenty year old daughter called Kathryn. She has cystic fibrosis and therefore she is going to have a very short life. In reality she has already had far more than half of the total.

Me...??? I'm grateful for very small mercies. Sometimes I'm very humble also.
