Hello there.

I've got an old Kenwood cd player but it does not want to play burned cd's.

Can anyone tell me if this olde chestnut can now be solved?

Cheers
Joe

Perhaps it doesn't support the CD-R and CD-RW formats. Some older CDs are incompatible with CD-Rs, as they are compliant only with the first version of the Red Book and not with later revisions (such as the Orange Book).

Audio CD-Rs are Red Book, not Orange Book.

It's hit or miss whether older players will play CD-Rs. Some will, some won't.

One thing you can try is to burn the CD-Rs at the lowest possible burn speed. This yields better definition on the disc and is reckoned by some to sound better even with non-fussy players.

You can also try different makes of CD-R. They are not all the same.

Hi Chris.

Yeah.. I've solved it!.. I was using Verbatim CD-R's and I've just burned on to some Sony and they work perfectly. Even burned at 32x.

The Sony discs are lighter in colour too, I remember the silver disc thang from years ago, maybe it's because of this?
