View Full Version : Dark Side of the Moon - Doug Sax Interview
I know the above album can show its age technically, but I'm really fond of Doug Sax's "Shine On Box" remastering of this iconic recording.
Below is a link to an interview (quite guarded in places but nonetheless interesting) culled from "Acoustic Sounds."

Thanks Dave :)
Interesting about the differing bass and top eq. There would have been tones too, to align the Dolby A units up - scary if there aren't any and I'd have thought EMI would have wanted the tapes back too.......
Decca used to have a large bland looking room full of Dexion style racking with rows upon rows of tapes. An administrator booked these tapes in and out and "filed" them carefully. I understand that these tapes, plus the contents of Decca's vaults, are in a warehouse outside of London now.
Without tones they must have adjusted the level by ear. Could have been a disaster.
"I would also like a million dollars and a date with Sophia Loren." LOL!
