I bought the Grado PS1000 headphones a few months ago - it is great for soundstaging, transparency and detail (everything I was looking for and not getting from my HD650's), but must admit that they can become somewhat fatiguing due to edginess at the top end.

I am hoping a good valve headphone amplifier may improve this, but am not that familiar with good valve headphone amps and the ones I have come across look a little on the dear side, e.g. the Earmax range, which also don't receive glowing reports.

I stumbled across the Icon Audio HP8 II which seems interesting and is priced right @ £450. Does anyone have experience with this amp or similar good valve headphone amps?

Got the PS1 phonostage and i no longer have speaker fatigue in my system.
Tried a few phonos and nothing ive had gives such a big soundstage. They are basically Ming Da amps that are super tuned with good components.
The guys at Icon are great to deal with as well.
