Nice to see TO3s ;)
Good luck with the project Andr'e :) Looks like one of those PSU caps has been changed, unless they are mean't to be that way

Yes the black one looks newish, you can see two holes in the PCB where the original was maybe as long as the blue cap still in there it's going tho, i want Kendeils in there, i actually have to find out what that replacement caps real value originally was as the replacement seems a bit small to me! ..Aye proper TO3 Transistors
I'm looking for two replacement control knobs for the amp if anyones looking in & got some (Brushed black anodised version)

Hi Andre,
Good to see you've got inside the bugger...FYI It was on an unplanned long term loan to a mate for a while, and he'd had a repair done on it, which may explain the newer component.
Looks like it's in the right hands... :)
My Crowns now have low ESR Vishay (I think) 22,000uF's (plus bypass caps) in them, replacing the still good 7,000's that came out. darned if I could hear much difference, but they take longer to shut down and *maybe* the bass is a tad better. What is worrying me a bit is that the ton-up Quad 303 aint far behind at all, apart from bass tautness and that's because the former owner didn't uprate the speaker coupling caps to a higher value..

Dave i always use the best caps i can i'll bypass each with my fav 5.0uf + 0.01uf polys, it's important to use the best bypass caps or you'll benefit very little because the sound influence will be of the inferior cap which in this case is the Electrolytic....
Yes thanks will i can't thank you enough, i already had Onix 'OA21' power coated version but could never find the 'SOAP' for it... I've PM Alan Worsford see if he has any specs for the output bias, i can take it from there...I'll have a good look at the 'SOAP' over the weekend, aswell as powering the intergrated & pre these were intended to power the 'BWD1' tuner which had a lower voltage rail i believe.
