Is there a new 'Touch' on the way?

Given my problems with my first 'touch' (which is in the process of being returned) I thought I'd buy a replacement in my RicherSounds store. The manager said "no more; discontinued stock; (perhaps a replacement on the way?)".

No wonder this model has been discounted to £199 in recent weeks.

1. Does anyone know any more about this possible upgrade?
2. What would be on peoples' wish lists?

That's interesting Richard, I wonder if they've decided to go the whole hog and beef up the processor, in order for it to run as a fully functional Server, rather than it's current limited functionality...

My worry is that Logitech have become obsessed with Sonos, and are going to incorporate an amp...and are moving away from the original slimdevices concept.

What I want is a new version of the receiver (upgraded DAC), but I'll bet that will get discontinued too, as it doesn't look 'sexy' enough.

What are the alternatives to the 'old' touch (besides CA Sonata np30 and the Sonos system?).

Or use Squeezebox in its original configuration;

Run squeezeserver/center on a computer of some sort, plugged into your wi-fi router, then playback on receivers (I have 4 rooms covered). And if you want nice graphics get a controller, or better still run SqueezeCommander (£2.50) on an android phone.

I think there are Iphone options too.;)

It works for me...:)

To get one Sonos unit going it's gonna cost me around £395 (ZP90 £255, BR100 Bridge £79, Used CR100 controller £60) so the Touch seems hard to resist at that price:).

I'm a bit bemused by this talk of Touch being EOL.
Logitech have the Touch on their website at the full SSP of £259.00 .

I think a better explanation for the heavily discounted prices currently available is that Logitech have been holding large stock all year, and that stock has not been shifting.
And it costs to have the item just sitting on the shelf or in some warehouse.
So they've taken a hit on the wholesale price to stimulate sales and shift stock in a moribund market.
And it looks like the discounted wholesale price has been mirrored by heavily discounted retail prices - hence the £200 Touch I first saw last weekend.

I do think this talk of Touch II is a bit premature - the thing only hit the market properly early on this year, following the almighty cockup of releasing a software driven product with serious software issues.

Perhaps the assistant was confusing the demise of the Classic with the Touch, as the classic doesn't appear on their website any more...poor old thing :(

I agree Chris, 12 months seems too short a production run to warrant all the R&D costs, so I'd be surprised if it's not still around for some time to come.
