View Full Version : Dino MK2
I noticed over on the Trichord site that there is an upgraded version of the Dino phonostage. Anyone here had this done? At £200 it just fits into my upgradeitis budjet :) I was very impressed when I got the MK1.

I used to have the Dino, upgraded to the Diablo. The guys at Trichord are always very helpful. So I think a £200 upgrade is probably well worth it. I still have my Diablo but now use a Sugden Masterclass PA4 which shows the Trichord lacking (purely my opinion). What kit do you use the Trichord with ?
Hang on, is it the unit for £200 or the UPGRADE for £200? Either way, £200 buys a heck of a lot of components, even fancy capacitors.

It's the upgrade for £200, you need to send them your Dino MK1 & it'll come back as a MK2 in a MK1 case, unless you pay out an extra £35 on a new case ;)

Guys just to clarify, the MK1 is grey and MK2 black? Sorry for off topic question
MK 1 is silver but the MK 2 version is in black. If you send your unit to be upgraded you can have a new box in black for an extra £35. Why would you

Oops - What he said :)

I've seen the price on the Sugden so I would have thought it might sound impressive :stalks:
TT is a standard Technics 1200 with Sumiko headshell and Denon DL160. My amplification is Myryad Ma 120 Pre and Power amps into Monitor Audio Bronze speakers - basically standard Sevenoaks Audio circa 1999

Well you have a great set up. Just to throw another phonostage into the arena, have you considered any of the creek phonostages? Sonically I think there is very little between them and the Dino, you could flog the Dino, buy a Creek and probably have a few quid in your back pocket. But, if you want to stick with the Dino, I love them!!! :grouphug: I still have a Diablo in my second set-up!! Just another thought, have you ever upgrading the 1200 as significant sonic improvements can be gained, it could be the technics which is your weak link in your chain.

Upgrade the techie with an outboard psu like the Timestep , will make a bigger difference than changing the phono stage ' yes !
Thanks for the replies - I think I'll concentrate on the Technics first. Achromat here we come :)
