Hi There from Upper Denby in West Yorkshire,

Been around the Wam for a bit and I thought I would broaden my horizons and say hello here.

Currently running NVA amplification, P90 into A 80 mono blocks, Cyrus CD8x CDP and Sonus Faber Concertino speakers. I like the Concertinos but I am in the process of buying JPW Ruby 3s. Why? Well I wanted to check out some floor standers and NVAs apparently go well with JPW, could be because they have simple crossovers.

I feel a bit naive in some Hi Fi respects so advice is always welcomed.

If you find the JPW's not to your taste (simple crossovers mean potentially large driver overlap and the phase issues that can result from this and using the drivers as the crossover isn't ideal either), please return to Sonus Faber and try the larger Concerto's in any of their forms. With the adjustable SF stands (so you can raise the speaker so you're looking at the bass units with the tweets slightly above you), they sound excellent IMO with all the timing, low(ish) colouration and clarity you could wish for, together with a bigger sound.

My musical tastes are pretty varied, I am currently obsessed by Tom Wait's early albums, you could call me an evangilist co I bang on so much about him! I like a bit of rock: Ac/DC, Led Zep; a bit of blues: Seasick Steve, B.B King, Buddy Guy; a bit of jazz: Miles, John coltrane, Stan Getz; Girly singers: Joni Mitchell, Melody Gardot; prog rock; King Crimson, porcupine tree, Genesis; a bit of classical. I suppose I am a bit old school but I am keen on kings of leon, Stereophonics and Counting crows where newer stuff is concerned. A bit of everything really, well, except dance, techno, rap etc.

I'm a bit of a stick in the mud in that I like what I like IYKWIM.

As far as the speakers go, I would love to try different Sonus Fabers but I feel I need to at least explore the floorstander's and simple crossovers avenue before I commit. Also, I need a bit of cash before I can go down that route!:lol:
