I bought this with a view of going hard disk based playback but decided to stick with CD for now. This is not the cheaper mini WDTV but the next model up with HDMI, optical output for external DAC connection and 2 usb ports.

Just plug a hard disk, SSD, pen drive etc in one of the usb ports
