I don’t spose any of you chaps/chappesses have any specification sheets/reviews/technical information on these units by any chance?
Pretty please; seem to have chucked what I had out

Andre perhaps ? :)

I've got some data on the early Quantum C1 preamp and P1 power amp which eventually morphed into the 102 and 202, if that helps?

Of course, where I've put it is quite another matter..........

Anything you have I would be grateful for Adam. Thank you very much :)
I can’t imagine how I managed to throw what I had out……………well, actually I can :mental:
I’ll send you a pm later.
Anyone else got anything?

Hey Andre. Thanks for your response :)
I’m going to replace the power supply caps and probably sell them if my Exposure 25 sounds better Andre.
I would like to make sure everything is working as it should and take a few measurements so a circuit diagram and /or any other information might help.

The idea was when I got rid of my decks and related kit was to simplify my system and put the money towards a Dac upgrade at some point. Instead I seem to have acquired another valve amp which I don’t really want, cant find a Dac noticeably better enough to warrant the money asked and even worse, I seem to have this stupid idea that I may just be able to raise enough money to consider getting the NAD M2!
Someone pass me a gun please :mental:

Good little amps back in their day. We sold loads of them and ended up with a six month waiting list.

Hi John
I've had a look again this morning i can't find my old litrature or my rebuild notes, must have let them go when i sold the amps..I would stick a couple of Slit foils in there (Bypassing each with very high grade polys), if i remember the original PSU caps were 10,000uF! upgrade the bridge rectifier..Slim chance you'll get a Schematic for the '207'! if you like what you hear & plan to go further with a rebuild just give the output current a quick measurue keep it as note, shouldnt have drifted out too much, these were very stable amps..Obvious upgrade would be to give the '102' it's own dedicated power supply as the '102' feeds from the '207', if i remember the '102' needs 24V so maybe an old Naim or Exposure psu would do! getting a Quantum '402' PSU for the '102' is near on impossible i'd have thought.

Hey Dave.
I came to your place to see if you had them in stock. Ended up listening to some Pro Acs you guys were rather keen on back in the day.
I don’t have a lot of time for the Hi Fi trade in general but you guys were always very patient and helpful. Just didn’t tend to stock the kit I wanted at the time.
They are smashing little amps; bags of grunt and control. It will be interesting to see how the Exposure measures up to them when I’ve got them fixed.

Cheers again Andre. Thanks for taking the time to have a look. I don’t really want to mess about with them too much if I’m going to sell them.

Hi Welder,
I came across this post and wondered if you still wanted any info on the Quantums as I have some blurb and would be pleased to post copies to you. I'd also be very interested in your opinion of them and more importantly any info regarding mods you,ve made as I have this combo sitting in the cupboard at the moment gathering dust. I had a Quantum setup years ago, when they were current and loved them.
Regards
Tony

Hello Tony.

That’s a very kind offer :)
I haven’t done an awful lot with what I have left. I sold two of the 207DA’s I had minus cases to another nut who intends to rework the cases and connection methods dispensing with the DIN sockets and making some minor wiring mods.

The truth is I got a bit distracted with a T Class venture and plans for a music server so basically I’ve done not a lot so far

What info do you have on these amps?

Hi Welder,
The info I have isn't particularly technical other than Tim Nind's design criteria for the pre/power amps, spec of various models and a review by a HiFi Mag.
I've just ordered a Beresford 7520, curious to see what my squeezebox will sound like directly into the 207 power amp. I have some Mission 753 freedoms and I hope the DAC will add a bit more dynamics. There again I might be barking up the wrong tree completely

Hi Anthony
You may not know, but we are currently assembling a 'blurb collection' in the AoS library. If you have the ability to scan it, there's a slot in the library exactly the right shape & size! This info would be very welcome.
Just a thought.
Cheers

If you could do as Chris suggested rather than send me the info that would be great Tony.
While the Quantums weren’t quite the giant killers some of the more enthusiastic reports at the time suggested they were excellent amps for the money and it would be good if the information you have was here for any remaining enthusiast to see. I know there are a couple of other members here who think highly of these amps and obviously, I’m a bit of a fan, having hung on to mine for so many years.
