Hi all.
I recently came across your wonderful forum whilst i was do some research on possible tonearm upgrades for my Technics 1210.
Ive been lurking in the background for the last week trawling over loads of old posts. You've got some really good info and discussions on here so i thought id best join.

Anyway my name is James. Im 29 from Burnley, Lancashire.
Currently my setup consists of;-
Technics 1210
Audio Technica AT440MLa
Sumiko Headshell
KAB technics fluid arm mod
Sorbothane feet
Homemade Turntable Isolation box (TNT Sandblaster, type)
Cambridge Audio 640P Pre Amp
Moth homemade RCM
Knotsi RCM

Other hobbies apart from the vinyl and turntable are PC's, music production, dj'ing, vinyl ripping.
Mainly i listen to a lot of old dance music from the early nineties but thats because im currently trying to rip most of my old vinyl collection that i used to dj with. I am partial to a bit of school hip hop (early 90's, 80's stuff. Cant stand new), i love my funk, dub, and soul as well.

Hi James, welcome to AoS :) Something tells me you'll fit right in here, must be to do with the 1210 bit me thinks :eyebrows:

Me, i'll stick to my rare old Aiwa AP2600 which i bought from a car boot sale for £20 :lolsign:

Decent selection of music you have there, i'm partial to just about any dance music from 90 onwards (except for happy hardcore :spew:). Must admit i'm more into the chillout side of things nowadays though, give me ambient :eyebrows:

Yes the technics threads are what have drawn me to the forum:eyebrows: Been picking through the old threads getting ideas for new upgrades. Can see this hurting my wallet over the next couple of months:lolsign:

Thanks pal glad you like my website. Its taken me a few years to build it up. I love my dj'ing but dont do as much these day and ive never really made much money out of it. I just enjoy it so i keep plugging away.
I made the switch to digital dj'ing a few years back which also lead me to trying to perfect my vinyl ripping. I still mainly only mix/play old house music and even today most of that stuff is still really only available on vinyl especially if you want a decent sounding copy. Cant be bothered with all the mp3 floating around the internet as they sound terrible.:vomfest:
Bought the above Technics deck and setup around a year ago as i wasnt happy with the rips i was getting from my dj'ing deck (vestax pdxmkII, Shure M44-7 + Ecler Nuo5 dj mixer). It was a bit of a risk for me investing in a hifi deck and setup as i was unsure if it was going to be any better than my dj gear as id spent quite a bit on that and assumed it was pretty high quality sound wise. I dont know anyone who has a decent hifi turntable setup so i was going out on a limb.
We'll since i bought it its been a revelation for me. Im hearing all sorts extra noises, depth, and quality in my record collection. I just love listening to and ripping all my old vinyl on my new hifi deck.
And thats kind of my story behind why im here. Got a bit carried away typing then.:lol:
