Hi everyone,

Greetings from a yorkshire ex-pat living in the West Midlands! Now retired from work, I am looking to redevelop a hobby that started in the early 70's (Garrard SP25 deck/wharfedale speakers) and progressed through lunch hours spent in Hardmans HiFi in Preston - whatever happened to both of those?

I have a soft spot for Technics gear and B&W speakers; moved into the 5.1 home cinema experience, but now also seeking to maximise stereo music enjoyment (helped along the way by some Stan B gear).

A recent follower of Spotify, I am trying to expand my existing musical tastes - mainly 70's founded - Kinks, BeBop Deluxe (originally local band in Yorkshire), Yes, early Bowie, Al Stewart, Bluetones; basically anything with good guitar playing/lyrics. Recent gigs attended in Birmingham are: Ray Davies, Crowded House (brilliant), Nils Lofgren, Squeeze.

Probable route in the future will include a move to a Squeezebox Touch playing FLAC and better amplification.

Regards, Derek:)

Hi Derek & a warm welcome to AoS :)

I remember hifi shopping in Laskys when there was an outlet back in the day in Peterborough :eyebrows: I think i'm pleased i moved on from there at any rate ;)

Plenty of members on here into the Squeezebox & other forms of streaming, i'm sure they'll be of help, me, i'm sticking to spinning silver reflective discs thank you very much - with the occasional black groovy thing chucked in for good measure :eyebrows:

I hope you enjoy your stay, all the best

Welcome to AoS Derek.

Garrard SP25 and Wharfedale speakers? That's where I started!

Good choice of music you enjoy. I think you'll find just a few Technics fans here.

Enjoy the forum

Hi Derek,
Welcome to AoS.
Garrard & Wharfedale featured strongly in my early exposure to the disease
Cheers
