I've got the same speakers and not much is going to get me to part with them, especially now I have upgraded the crossovers. A couple of decent wirewound resistors makes a good speaker into a great speaker.

Anyone contemplating spending upwards of £1500 on speakers shouldn't ignore these :eyebrows:

Simply change the nasty white "coffin" ceramic resistors for good quality wirewound Caddocks of the same value and just doing that alone reaps significant rewards. The electrolytic capacitors should ideally be changed for polypropylene ones but the crossover boards are pretty small and mounting bigger caps is a bit of a bastid, so I will leave that until a later date. I might even mount the crossover externally and fill the bottom void with some Attabytes or sand which again should be very worthwhile. I couldn't get the speakers stable with the puny supplied spikes and longer spikes weren't much better, so I have made 19mm MDF "plinths" with a large footprint and bolted the speakers to those. The extra physical stability (they do wave around a bit don't they?) also benefits the bass and soundstaging.

I'd take £240 if that would make it any easier for someone who may be wanting these stunning sounding speakers.

Cheers Shaun, im wanting to replace the 603's with them, if you can do you think they would be a decent upgrade ?
The 603's are nice but at low volume they dont really do much, they have to be cranked up quite a lot to get the best out of them, are the Dali's better for this ?
Do they have good detail at low volumes Shaun

Mark, all of my listening is done at low volumes when compared to some who seem to like to make their ears bleed. The Dali's are stunning for the money and do perform well at low volume but as with most loudspeakers need a bit of grunt to get over their own inertia. They have a fabulous low bass, the sort that just emanates around the room and the midrange is gorgeous with loads of fine detail. The treble is good on good recordings but can show up bad recordings as being just plain bad.

My reason for selling these speakers is purely down to their size. I have a room that is around 13' by 16' and they are simply dominating the room. In the interests of domestic peace and harmony I feel that a smaller pair of standmounts would be better. I could be making a very big mistake :doh:

By the way; the room is our lounge, I do not have a dedicated listening room which is why I am attempting to sell the Dali's.

You know that is so bloody typical :doh: I threw away the boxes this last summer as they were taking up far too much garage space but the speakers would fit into an estate type car or small van without too much of a problem. OK, they are over a metre tall but they are very slender.

Unfortunately I can't take anything in p/x as I have to use the funds from the Dali's to buy a small standmount pair of speakers.
