I have installed The Gator board in my Standac and when I connect my Lightspeed I get some bad distortion:(. I would like to see if its an attenuation issue. So may I borrow a pair of RCA attenuators ( Golden Jacks or similar)? I promise to look after them and will return them straight away.
Postage will be paid both ways by me.

Cheers!

Someone else is getting distortion on the fixed output, but as of last night, he was confirming it was actually something in the Gator before troubling Stan.

Can you try the gator variable output instead of the Lightspeed to see if it fixes things? I understand the Gator is supposed to be a proper line driver.

Hamish, Many thanks. Let me know by PM if you have a successful rummage through your drawers.
Dave, Stan has suggested the same and I will try that later on.

I have a pair of Rothwell 10dB attenuators you can borrow if you like. PM me your address if you're interested. :)
I'll be interested to read your findings as I'm on the list for a Gator and I've got a Lightspeed kit on the way from the US. So I might be in the same boat soon. ;)

Thanks Dave,
I have a couple of offers already but will bear you in mind if they fall through.
I have tried the variable output on my Standac and still get distortion at anything above very low level listening.

No probs.
It does seem an odd issue. So does the Gator work fine when connected directly to your amp using the DAC's variable output? Do you know the input impedance of your amp? It could be some kind of impedance miss-match issue maybe.

Yes it works fine on fixed or variable without the LS in circuit. I hope I haven't damaged the LS in some way when connecting it, causing the distortion.

What about trying the LS with the original audio board?

Shall I move you down the list for the time being until we know if the LS is not compatible with the Gator?

No thanks. ;) It'll be a while until I get my LS kit built, so I can get plenty of use from the Gator before then. :)
