Guys...I'm looking for opinions on video extenders, specifically, the ones that use CAT 5/6 cable in between Rx and Tx. Never used or seen one in action.
Something like this...
http://uk.startech.com/product/ST121UTPMINI-Mini-VGA-Video-and-Audio-Extender-over-Cat5
Good resolution up to 1920x1200, more than enough distance capability etc.
Anybody have any experience of them before I hit the button. Ignore the price on this site, they are MUCH cheaper elsewhere...:lolsign:

Oh well...no callers. Hit the button so will post impressions when it arrives for future reference.

Just for reference.....took a while to get it just right but all in all it works very well. I have mine over a 10mtr cat5 cable so now the puter is in another room....ahhh...quiet...
Dont just plug it in and expect it to work right away. It wil take a couple of reboots if you adjust any settings because windows can no longer auto detect your monitor...take your time and alll will be well.
So there you go...
Thanks Ray - never even knew you could do this, so always good to learn and know there are options if needed.

You know how these things are Alex. Couldnt find a single review so had to take a chance. The PC had to go so it was either an extender or buy a laptop as SWMBO has decided to rearrange the front room.
Anyways the extender was £118 and a new laptop (bearing in mind I have a hankering to try an Apple) would have been £1K.
Took the chance and it paid off. I really do tend to be pessamistic about these things...I tend not to believe unless I can see (hear) for myself.
