Hello everyone,
I know that my other half has already introduced us, here and in the trade section, but I just thought I'd say "hi" as myself. I used to be into hi-fi when I was younger, but it was the sort of thing where I just wanted something to listen to music on that wasn't just the usual "Mug's Eyeful" that you get in Comet or Currys. A long, long time ago, when my hair was brown and I was, literally, half the man I am today :), I used to work at Rumbelows (Stanley, County Durham branch. Not quite the arsehole of the universe, but fairly close to it). In amongst the Amstrad crap (and, boy, was it crap), there used to be some quite nice stuff from Rotel and Sony. I could never afford any of it, as I spent all my money on a). Cardboard boxes full of plastic with words like "Airfix" and "Revell" and "Italeri" on them, then, when I got a bit older b). Glass vessels full of fermented cereal crops that came from pumps with word like "Ruddles" and "Marstons" on them.
Anyway, somewhere along the line I managed to acquire a Pioneer A300 amp, a Pioneer PD-7700 CD player (I may have got that model number wrong) A Denon DRM-510 cassette deck and a Denon TU-260L tuner. I did have a Garrard turntable whose model name I can't remember, but a few years back, Fran's ex-hubby gave me his Rega Planar 3, when he moved house (he held onto his LP-12 though). I got rid of the CD player when I got my DVD player a few years back (still Pioneer and still going strong after 10 years). I also ended up inheriting a pink iPod from my stepdaughter when she got a Classic.
These days, I get to play a bit of music through the system, and I'm back tickling the plastic in my modelling room, building stuff like

this little Hellcat. Unfortunately I don't have a good system in my "man cave" but I'm sure that it's only a matter of time.
