OK...we all know that valve rolling input and output valves will alter the sound characteristics but could you expect to hear a difference to the sound when rectifier valves are changed.
my experence tells me yes.. some quite noticable differences..
it depends what you comparing with, and if your comparing a well warmed up tube with a cold one...
i use gz37 but have most of the other 'old' valves, i find theres not alot between them, but i've tried chinese and rusky gz34's that degrade the sound somewhat.

Also it's worth noting that rectifiers have quite different voltage drops depending on type. So if you are rolling differing rectifier types some of the differences you hear will be due to the circuit working at different operating points.

You have to use a Mullard GZ 34 in a Leak Stereo 20, others ive tried dont sound as good ( ive had 6 st 20 s )
