The deck is a P2 with an Elys2 and a Michel Technoweight.
The Speakers are RS1's in piano black.
The space in the rack is waiting a new arrival ;)

Looks like a nice clean setup & room you have there chap, very nice indeed :)

When i first clapped eyes on one of those Rega amplifiers i honestly did do a double take, i mean i know musical fidelity equipment can be a little unorthodox, but whoever thought of sticking a heatsink on the underside of an amplifier just won the daftee prize :mental: :lolsign:

Well it's certainly different :eyebrows:

That's some CD changer you have there to :stalks: 300 discs

Its a Cambridge Audio DAC 1. Described as condition superb and totally unmarked. If it proves the case I am hoping to get it upgraded, but more about that later.

Dac has arrived, pretty good for £80 odd .
Don't think I'm going to get it modded as the Sony wurlitzer sounds great now.

Psssst - change the P2 for an RP1 - there isn't a "new" P2 in the up and coming new range for good reason ;)

Must be that it can't get any better :)
Unless I fit a white belt and
a new sub-platter and
an acrylic platter and
a techno weight... oops I've done that..and
rewire the arm and
some spikey feet and
an off board psu and
replace the cartridge

 ££££££

After exactly one week my new arrival has been replaced by a DAC 2.
DAC 1 is for sale in the ads forum with an explanation :)

You certainly have a penchant for audio equipment with numbers. Was the Cambridge dac not the real number one (sorry couldn't resist) :)

I'm lecturing you () that an RP1 with supplied Ortofon cartridge will probably sound better than your P2 with "Aluminised" platter - sorry, silver painted on the edge :D

Seriously now, I found that all the CD players and DACs I tried from the DacMagic era used to like a highg-current mains conditioner/filter. The Roxburgh 6A one available from Farnell works well on the DAC only -

Thanks for the info. unfortunately the mains cable on my DAC is hard wired.

...or you could try running the DAC and CDP through an isolation transformer. That can work well IME.

Thanks Simon but what am I going to gain?
I haven't actually said there is a problem with the sound.

Simple :) although a bit clumsy. Wire an IEC socket on the end of your item and connect to IEC plug on the filter unit. Make, or have made, a short IEC to 13A plug lead and connect this to the mains and IEC socket on the filter ;)

I can do it but like my last post what will I gain?

Just an update on my kit, the ipod has been rescued from the conservatory for the winter, the Pure dock has its own DAC but I am by-passing it through the Dacmagic at present.
