what are these things called? + help with my dyn active speaker conversion

im starting to sort out the first steps of my active conversion to my dynaudios ... got the amps and active crossover sorted now im tackling the speakers

i managed to get the crossovers out of the speaker without doing any major harm, but i dont want to do anything that i cant ultimately completely reverse.

so, i need to know what these connectors are called

also, do they have a male version that i could solder on to the end of a bit of wire...

also, i was just going to use some plain qed original copper cable for the internal wiring... any better (cheap) option

im fairly certain many will think im crazy doing all this ... but its fun :)

I've not seen a male version - that's not to say that you can't get them, it just means I've never had need of 'em so I've never sought 'em out.

Spade connectors, both male & female are available :) Not only that but the come in all sorts of sizes, so make sure you get the right size.

Probably best to have a look on fleabay to get an idea of the correct sizes available. They also come with different cable sizes apertures to & often they have colour coded terminals to indicate the cable size they'll carry.

Red, blue & yellow are common. I think red covers up to 1.5mm^2, Blue to 4mm^2 & yellow to 6mm^2 :doh:

I knew it would be something blindingly obvious ... What an odd world we live in were something such as a "female spade" exists ... That said, I said I suppose everything is male and female in some countries ...

If i was you i'd go to the nearest car parts store :eyebrows: They'll be cheaper & have a much better selection than Maplin ;)

I may have some of these, what size do you need, male or female?
They are the insulated version, but that doesnt make any difference to how they work.

They are designed for crimping, but if you remove the insulation, they can be soldered.
