Hi All

Just ot say hello - I registered a little while back but haven't been around much. Now back looking for info for my Technics 1210 project. Awaiting an Achromat 1200 that I've got on order - the thread on them came up just about half a day after I started researching the best mat to get!

Looking forward to finding out about bearings, platters and PSU's - although I realised this would be such a controversial topic!

What system are you running - got any pics for our Gallery?

Glad you found the thread on Achromats (demonstrating again the influence of AoS) and that you've ordered one - I'm sure you'll enjoy it!

There is LOADS of info here on modifying the SL-1200/1210, so get stuck in and participate on some of the threads :cool:

Thanks for the welcome! :)

The Technics has got a Jelco SA 750D and Lyra Dorian on it, running into a Heed Quasar. Amps are a modified NAC72 and a ZAP250 (NAP250 with Avondale power supply), running into PMC FB1+ speakers. CD player is an Exposure 3010.

Haven't got any pics yet but I will get some sorted. Porbably won't be until about Christmas now though 'cos I'll be away for work for 5 weeks form next Sunday....

Certainly will trawl through the info - had seen the articles in Hifi World but had no idea there were so many options out there. Defintiely interesting times ahead!

Forget these Technics shenanigans. A NAS Spacedeck will sound better once a "heavy" kit is fitted and apart from an optional "Wave Mechanic," won't need any other upgrades 'cos you'll be far too busy listening to music for the next twenty years or so..:lol:

But you don't want to hear that, do you???? :D

I don't drive so i miss the madness, cycling is interesting though :eyebrows: I'm sticking with my Aiwa, it's better built than a 1210. I have been around 1210s enough to notice :ner:

Part of the fun is sorting it all out though isn't it? Plus a Spacedeck with all that gubbings - good though it no doubt sounds - is getting on a bit in price terms and doesn't sound quite as to me taste as the Technics....
