Interest check - Tannoy Canterbury SE

A friend of mine is emigrating and, reluctantly, he must sell his pride and joy, Tannoy Canterbury SE's.

These were purchased approx two years ago and have never been played loudly in his smoke-free home. They are as new with full packing. A beautiful pair of speakers and if I had the room they would be mine.

The latest price is over £14K but he will accept £6K with collection from the Bristol area.

Having heard Canterburys a few times, I would have to say, these are the last speakers you would ever buy. Simply stunning.

The owner is a sophisticated lover of Classical music and small scale Jazz. The speakers are in a very small room and he appreciates subtlety rather than sheer power.

He definitely isn't a head-banger like you and I..:brickwall:

i have said on a few ocasions after hearing ian walkers pair [ooh er''] that if i had the room i would love to own them, but for now i will have settle for sluming it with my Kensingtons!:eyebrows::lol:

If you are interested and in Bristol, you still have an excellent chance.

Just now I have three people promising to purchase but not one of them seems keen to move swiftly. The owner emigrates at the end of the month and the last day to pick the speakers up is the 27th, after that they go into storage.

They make Marco's Lockwoods seem expensive - no offence Marco, but £6K for a recent *current model* and no updating necessary... A tragedy that few people take the gamble as the current range seem very well sorted and far easier to drive than other prima donna's masquerading as Top End...

They look superb, i think the problem is Dave is getting to them with something that can actually transport the things :eek: A van is what you'd need, i don't think any estate car would fit a pair in, on top of that how many people have £6K floating about that they wouldn't notice if they spent it with things as they are right now?

How much is a cheap van rental for a day these days?

When my old friend took delivery of my ATC 100A's, I had another mate help me load them into a hired van at home and the chap who still has them helped me at t'other end. Bloomin' 'ell, my BC2's feel heavy enough these days and they're featherweight :)
