It's none of the above.
It's an old lady walking down the street.

It's an old lady walking down the street.

With an object in her hand and she appears to be talking. What is the object ? Sadly the quality of the film is poor and the filming ends when she looks round at the camera.

Personally I don't think time travel is or will ever be possible.

Have you heard of a guy called Albert Einstein? Well he proved it was possible :eyebrows:

The special theory of relativity makes time travel possible, but only into the future. All you need to do is travel close to the speed of light or orbit an incredibly heavy object & time (relative to earth time) slows down. You could sit next to a black holes' event horizon for what to you appeared to be a year & come back to earth & centuries might have passed.

If that's not time travel i don't know what is :eyebrows:

Oh, by the way, it's some crazy spinster talking to her powder compact

I thought about that but wondered if it was perhaps a cricket in a box.

It's actually fairly easy to prove Neil ... Clocks in satellites that orbit the earth need to be adjusted to match the time on earth everyday because of it. If it wasn't for that knowledge gps wouldn't work...

The Grand Wazoo

It's not an object, it's the shadow of her hand fer cryin' out loud.

The Vinyl Adventure
28-10-2010, 18:49
Is it though? It could be anything... Make up, shadow... It could be a chunk of black pudding, or even a rat that had been run over by a horse and cart that she, as a crazy lady had befriended ... All more probable than time travel ... But, it could be time travel... Why rule it out, why can't it be possible? There is a shit load of other stuff more probable ... But we will never likely know anyway!

It could be a cleverly ochestrasted hoax.. He is in te film business, maybe he had someone put it in there for him ... With it in mind to eventually use it to premote his business through a publicity stunt that would no doubt get millions of hits on you tube and press coverage

He might have even previously worked for the company that put the DVD out and did it him self...

He did seem quite keen to premote the DVD maybe that was the arrangement... Put something in the DVD for me and I'll premote it in a YouTube video that will get millions of hits...

hi all,
ok, here's my theory, its a bloke dressed up in his wifes clothes, he's stumbled onto a film set, realised his wife is a big charlie chaplin fan and therefore is likely to recognise him in her clothes and is obviously desperate to hide his identity, while covering his face from the camera with his hand he can be clearly seen to be muttering "ohh shit, get that camera off me or i'me for it":lol:

Already tried & proved ;)

Atomic clocks run faster in a high altitude aircraft due to slightly lower gravity. I'm sure you'll find loads about it on google :)

MartinT
28-10-2010, 21:56
Indeed, travelling forwards in time is already proven. One merely needs to travel close to the speed of light or near to a very gravitationally powerful body such as a neutron star to travel forwards significantly in time. It's travelling backwards in time that is unprovable.

This is nothing more that a clever viral promotional for a film festival dressed up as some spooky 'discovery'!

Has anyone actually checked the original film itself? It wouldn't be the first time someone's manipulated old footage in this way, to create a bit of a stir like this.

Woody Allen made a game of it in Zelig.

Assuming the footage is un-messed with the lady in the film was probably self-consciously fiddling with her hair or hat. She does seem to be amused by the whole experience. Maybe she was trying to hide her excitement at being in a new fangled film.

As for time-travel... are they saying that cell-towers and the satellites to support mobile telephony were also transported back in time? Whatevvverrr... !

The Grand Wazoo
29-10-2010, 07:03
According to the guy in the video you'd think no-one in the human race ever put their hand up to the side of their head before the invention of the mobile phone - 'object' or no object!

If she IS a time traveller and she HAS come from the future she has done a pretty poor job of dressing herself to blend with her surroundings and of course, just who the hell was she talking to...? Radio waves travel at the speed of light so aren't really going to get anywhere in a hurry.

if it was a hearing aid that still dosent fully acount for who she was apparently talking to, unless of course she was a bit mad and was talking to her self or the hearing aid because she couldnt hear anything!

I wonder how many of you would opt for time travel backwards or forwards! For me i'd give anything to be a 18 year old in london 1967..The UFO Underground club please.

MartinT

Gosh yes, think how much fun it would be to re-live your teenage years with the knowledge you have now? For instance, I wish I had asked Richard Branson for a job in his tiny record shop above a shoe shop in Oxford Street when I was chatting with him while buying some records.

Same time, same place, for me too Andr'e. It would have been fab to be 18 in London, seeing The Floyd, Soft Machine, Third Ear Band at the Free School, Middle Earth or UFO :)

I'd be with you two, actually maybe a few months earlier, then we could catch the Roundhouse gig (April 8th!).

But first, I'd nip back to about 1986-88, & snaffle up all those Radfords and Garrards that were going for under £100! I've still got the magazines with the classified ads in them, so I know all the sellers phone numbers!

'twas a long time ago, I'd have moved on. Not sure being in the music business wouldn't have jaded me by now, prefer to be an enthusiastic bystander.

By the by, I went into my local HMV today and walked out thoroughly depressed. What a waste of space chain record stores are now with their relegation of CDs to the corner, nearly all space devoted to films. Amazon rules...

BTW: with out the aid of cell towers and satalites her cell would be as useless as the new Apple phone for makeing calls.

I am inclined to belive it is unexplainable without more information, this film is like a half truth ,you only see enough to be confused but not enough to warrent if it warrents further confusion...

Look at those freakish shoes,if her feet are actualy able to fill them she is defenatly an alien of some sort of superfreak from the past.

Why does everyone think that mobile phones use satellites? Haven't you noticed all tose masts all over the place?

OK pedants, I know that a lot of smartphones have GPS built in, but the mobile phone network is very much ground-based!
