So, in your nest, what gear do you have? Adam speakers like Hamish? ;) And music - Prince Charming, King's of the Wild Frontier? :eyebrows: (I often wonder what Adam Ant says when he is 100% convinced on something... "I'm adamant" - "um, yes, we know you are...")

Hi guys and thanks for your warm welcome.

Let me first say that I believe in live and let live and I think that this is a forum that also thinks that way, so I'll start with my preferences. Vinyl to CD, Valves to Trannies, Electrostatics to Boxes and anything that looks stunning - to me. :lolsign:

Music taste is as broad as a concert grand piano with extra octave of bass notes. Mozart & Beethoven, Tchaikovsky & Rachmaninov, Telemann & Bach and any other classical composer short of Wagner, especially the X Factor one. Twentieth century composers performed by the likes of Sinatra, Bennett, Nat 'King' Cole, Matt Monro, Ella, Diana Krall, Stacey Kent, Oscar Peterson, Basie, Ellington, all Blue Note recordings, Beatles, Kinks, Abba, Take That, with or without RW, and anyone else I might have forgotten. Really fave piece of music is slow movement from Beethoven's 'Emperor' Concerto.

Bits of music playing electronics, the list is nearly as long as music likes, so will have to wait for another day, but the above may give an indication!

Alex has already provided one of his unique and personal welcomes. Since this hasn't scared you off, you will fit in well here with our relaxed attitude and zany humour.

Hell, with music tastes such as your's and a penchant for electrostatic speakers you will fit in well here - well with me at least. By the way which version of the Beethoven 5th piano concerto do you prefer? I have at least 5 versions.

Thank you for your welcome, kind sir. Pick of the bunch as far as Beethoven goes, for me at least, are the Klemperer versions - be it Symphonies, Concerti, or Opera.

To answer your question, though, 1st place is Alfred Brendel, 2nd is Klemperer/Baremboim . I like both the box sets of Beethoven piano concerto for different reasons. Slow movement No5 possibly Brendel as he is softer of touch, but Barenboim is more 'Beethoven'. The movement is certainly inspired by God - whoever He may be.

Now tell me I've got it all wrong.:doh: :lolsign:
