Hello, my name is Seth. I recently stumbled across this forum while doing some research.

I'm deeply interested in Teac's Reference series components and I figure this UK based forum would have more traffic revolving around them.

My current Hi-Fi is consists of a Teac A-H500 integrated amplifier, T-H500 tuner, PD-H570 7 disc CD changer, and a pair of Infinity Interlude 10 bookshelf monitors.

You'll find me listening to most anything that isn't country or rap. Some of my favorite bands and performers include The Cranberries, Cold Play, Radiohead, Sting, Genesis (Collins and Gabriel), Fleetwood Mac, Pink Floyd, Alan Parsons Project, Dido, Sheryl Crow, countless others, it goes on and on.

I hope to share and learn on this forum!

Curious, when I click "new posts" it does not show any of the most recent posts (the last post it shows is one from you at 12:00 p.m.). How would one track the most current posts?

It will only show you the new posts that you haven't read.

Welcome aboard "Seth". I'm really trying hard to not make a joke about Darkest Peru... Do you like marmalade sandwiches, by any chance? Do you have a nice duffle coat? Please excuse me - it has become somewhat of a tradition for me to try and be "funny" in my welcoming posts... You probably haven't got a clue what I'm going on about!

I always think there is a certain amount of cachet to Teac equipment, certainly a lot more than most of the Japanese brands. Great choice of music, too.

That little Teac system was amazingly good at the time and could give the better established favourites a good run for their money. Just give them some decent beefy interconnects (I love Van Damme's current cables for not much money) and speaker cables...

I'm not a cables aficionado. The most expensive cables in the setup are one set of half meter Straight Wire interconnects which I use between the Teac A-H500 amplifier and the PD-H570 CD player. I'm using a very heavy gauge wire (basically 2 x 12 gauge) for each speaker. It was a set of Monster cables I purchased from a store going out of business. I only use them because they look nice, in reality they're a pain to deal with. They're terminated with inexpensive banana plugs to simplify things. The rest of my interconnects are pretty generic, but they do the job.

Blimey - Peru is part of the US now! I really must start watching the news or reading the papers!

Please can I suggest that for future use, you print a label marked "Please Look After This Country. Thank you." and attach it to your former homeland? (Well if you weren't confused before, you will be now! ;))

I figured my username would have made my name obvious, plus I noticed another member didn't have that on his posts.

So the title he earned is generic, or the moderators/admin gave it to him?

After a period of furious posting, or after something silly happens, you kind of get one of those. It's usually your choice.

Your user name does make your name obvious, but not everyone falls into that category & not everyone chooses to put it into their signature. The theory is that eventually, everyone will have their proper name up there. As Alex demonstrates, there is still a little rebellion going on and some folks haven't been able to make the changes yet for one reason or another.

Hi Seth, I genuinely hope my "mischief" hasn't scared you too much! The "I'm Seth" is a recent thing, because a lot of members don't have obvious user names like you and I, and weren't too forthcoming in including them in their signatures. We like to think AoS is a bit more friendly than the average forum, and it helps keep the community a nice place to be if we use first names.

As for "titles" such as mine, I did chose it myself, though when some of us decided we wanted to have something different we did canvass opinion... most of the options suggested for me by fellow members were unprintable on a family friendly forum! :)

I think the rule of thumb is that you can ask to have your chosen title once you have been around for a while (I think at 100 posts you become a "senior member" and that is the point when most people go for a custom moniker, though I could well be wrong - I usually am, please refer to my wife for examples!)
