Hello to everyone,

I've been an audiophile since birth and am happily retired. It is a great time in life to enjoy the passion of music and pursue the quest for the best sound I can achieve.

While new here I am a member of the vinyl asylum and the Bay Area Audiophile Society and have attended CES in Las Vegas a few times.

I appreciate the opportunity to introduce myself and I hope I can be a meaningful contributor to this forum. All the best to each of you.

Hi Doug, and welcome to AoS. I love the San Fransico Bay area, though I've only been twice, and probably only saw the touristy bits you want us to see! :eyebrows:

I'm guessing you're running a Technics SL-12X0? How have you modded it, and what other kit do you use? Some pictures in the Gallery will always get us excited, if you can manage it some time?

What sort of music do you like? I think that about covers the nosey questions we like to interrogate I mean ask our new members...! Enjoy the forum - I'm sure you will (And current "other thread" aside, this is usually a very friendly place to hang out.)

I lived in San Francisco for 28 years but could not afford to buy a house there so my wife and I moved across the bay to San Leandro. I love The City and if I hit the lotto, we will move back.

You are correct, I run two Technics SL1210 M5G's both with the Mike New bearing upgrade. On one table I have the audiomods.com redesigned Rega RB250 tonearm built by Jeff Spall. He uses only the arm tube, arm rest and arm lift from the original RB250. Everything else is his design, built by Jeff. What a great guy, I've talked to him a few times and his tonearm not only sounds wonderful, has VTA on the fly via a short micrometer, it is truly a work of art.

The other deck has a Jelco 750D arm and my Luxman PD441 will soon have a Technics EPA100 tonearm. I'm excited about trying out this arm.

I use three Jasmine LP2.0SE phono preamps each with Bobs Devices Cinemag SUT's ... simply marvelous. I confess to being lazy and the three phono pre's allow me to just push a different input switch on my integrated amp to change turntables. No tonearm cable moving needed ;)

My music choices are Jazz, lite rock, some classical and vocal pop. I really love the sax and have several Stan Getz LP's of which his Bossa Nova's are my favorite.

custom plinths for a couple Thorens turntables I no longer have. But if you would like to see one you can go to the following link. This was once my rosewood baby that I sold to a fellow vinyl asylum member.

I built quite a few of these for other people for the fun of woodworking but now I like to spend more of my time listening to music so those projects are a thing of the past.

I'll just add my appreciation to that of other members regarding your lovely plinth. Know what you mean about the desirability for ease of input selection when using multiple turntable/arm combinations.
