Hi.
Can anyone tell me if the pioneer cts 670d is anygood .Picked one up recently,I have never seen a cassette deck that uses dac's before.

I guess, technically, if it uses dac then you could put it into record with a dummy tape, play digital sources through it and achieve analog sound quality a la Beresford, etc. Am I thinking right or am I missing something?:scratch:

Hi,You could probably set it to record and pause and maybe use it as a dac,not tried this though. thinking about it I think I have a Phillips digital cassette player somewhere that could be used like that.

Hmmm, i'd forget about the DACs & take a look inside the transport ;) It sounds very much to me like the Japanese going a little mad like they used to with integrated amps with built in DACs etc :eyebrows: I mean what's the difference between DACs in a player & in an amp, i think i'd rather have them somewhere cooler & with a supply that isn't going to be modulated like it would in an amplifier ;)

Open the cassette deck door & see how many capstans & heads it's got ;) Two capstans & 3 heads = good, one capstan & two heads = it might still be a good one.

Ultimately stick a known cassette in & have a listen :)

Run a head cleaner or get out the q-tips and alky and have a good scrub, just sayin'...
