Does anyone know the original diameter of the sq section Tray Loading belt please?

'fraid not, Andre. I used to own a CD104 and it was a nicely built machine. I really wish I had kept mine but part-exchanged it for an inferior CD650.

It's not for a 'CD104' it's for a Mission 'DAD7000'

And it sounded tons better for it as I remember. The DAD7000 and B&O CDX were the first players to show me that CD had a good future.

The CD104 came in two versions to the UK. the earlier expensive one had a more sophisticated power supply I understand and the cheaper one a year later had some cost-cutting done apparently (source - a engineer mate who owned both).

With the 7000 it has an encapsulated filter on the output which makes the machine sound a thousand times better..They also fitted a remote control on the '7000R' version & obviously a new facia.

I had a very early one, bought at the hi-fi show as soon as it was launched. Pretty heavy with a die cast chassis. It didn't sound at all bad.

Even so they were expensive to make and Philips effectively sold every one at a loss. They were replaced by the considerably value-engineered CD160 which was an absolute dog's dinner.

I had a CD104B, the black one and an improvement over the original CD104. Superbly built, however in stuffing everything into a comparitively small-sized case, the components ran hot and several of the dozens and dozens of solder joints could either go "dry" and noisy, or fail.

Eventually mine developed a fault which meant once loaded, the disc would not spin up to speed. I ditched it and swapped my allegiance to Sony.

Don't worry i'm aware of the weak areas that are potential issues, but 25 years old just needs a belt, good going i say.

Hi Andre,back again,belt is 55.5mm on the calipers when lightly stretched .Hope this helps
