Lots of thumps and booms coming across the water from the Shoeburyness MOD site. These are quite powerful and shake the house a bit. Some biggish stuff going off. It's about twenty miles North West from me with only sea between, I guess sound travels well across water.

Well you won't have any buildings in the way to soak up the sound. This is quite interesting Geoff, keep us informed of anything further you learn about it.

I used to do vehicles for them when I was with Arriva. The driver maps I'd print off for them off 'Streetmap' had 'Danger Zone' in big letters so it became a standing joke that they were going to go through the danger zone as per the Top Gun song.
Not the case for that place but for some of the police and army ops they had to have a password to get through. They loved that.

When I was young there was a beach a few miles away called Donna Nook where the RAF would practice. The Americans also sent A-10s there to practice using their Gatling guns, you knew when they were doing it as you could hear the extended roar of a salvo from miles away.

More thumps and booms today. They seem to have phases of doing this for a few days, then it might be quiet for a week or two.
No doubt not as noisy as it would be if the 'SS Richard Montgomery' goes up. That's not far from Shoeburyness.

The window salesmen will have a field day if that sucker ever blows.
