ValvePower Stereo 20
This amplifier is a modern UK-built recreation inspired by the classic Leak Stereo 20, built to modern safety standards using high-quality components and transformers that exceed the original specifications.
Important: This amplifier is not a Leak Stereo 20. "Leak" is mentioned only to indicate the design inspiration.
The amplifier is approximately one year old and in excellent condition.

Switchable 8Ω and 16Ω speaker outputs
Single stereo input
Russian K40Y-9 paper-in-oil coupling capacitors in the signal path
Hand-built in England
My friend, who builds valve amplifiers and LS3/5A speakers himself, checked the amplifier for me and commented that it comfortably outperforms his original Leak Stereo 20.
Condition
Excellent overall condition.
There are two minor cosmetic imperfections:
Small paint scratches on the front-left capacitor cover
Small paint scratches on the centre transformer cover
These are only visible on close inspection.

Ken Kessler wrote:
> "Smith manufactures brand new Leak Stereo 20 and Quad II power amps. They massacre the originals because they're better built than Leak or Quad ever achieved back in the day... Through LS3/5As or Tannoy Mini-Autographs, the sound is magical – vintage and modern at the same time."
Steve Smith no longer manufactures this model, making it increasingly difficult to find.
David Harris LS3/5A-Inspired Speakers
These speakers were built by David Harris,
David is a retired electrical engineer who is respected for his valve phono stages, refurbished Lenco GL75 turntables, tonearms and speaker designs.
These speakers were chosen specifically to partner with the ValvePower Stereo 20, as they are 15Ω speakers and therefore an excellent match for the amplifier's 16Ω output.
They deliver a wonderfully natural midrange and surprisingly impressive bass performance for their size.

Original KEF T27 tweeter
15Ω crossover
Air-cored inductors
Capacitors matched within 1%
Uprated power resistors
Thin-wall white oak cabinets built in the BBC tradition
Speaker Condition
The cabinets are generally in good condition.
The underside of the cabinets suffered some cosmetic damage when the original rubber feet were removed. This cannot be seen when the speakers are mounted on the stands.
The finish remains presentable, although a light sanding and re-oiling/revarnishing could improve their appearance further if desired.
