Evening all,
Having acquired, loved, then sold a pair of Neat SX1 floor-standers, I’ve convinced myself that my search for a pair of quality stand-mounts should be directed in the direction of Neat acoustics. I really do want this to be my last ever speaker purchase!! I’m getting far too old to consistently spend time chasing the next best thing and I’m running out of years.
Although I haven’t discounted a pair of SX3s, they’re from the same ‘stable’ as the SX1s and I want to go up the range if I can.
Neat Ministras (isobaric) have recently been discontinued and I have absolutely no idea how their bass output would interact with my problem lounge.
So by default, really, I arrive at Petites.
I don’t intend listening either at a dealer or asking for an in-house demo because I have no intention of buying new (budget). And so, it just seems wrong.
I”m aiming for Petite Classics but someone on another forum suggested I shouldn’t rule out Petite SX. And I’ve already confirmed with Neat that spares are still available.
Even if anyone has anything suitable, my next issue will be collection/distance, etc because the days when I could travel a couple hundred miles in a day have long since evaporated.
So it’s more in hope than expectation that I post this message. Mainly on the basis that if you don’t ask, you’ll never know.
Thanks

There's plenty of other options out there. Personally I don't think NEAT are that great.

Maybe describe the sort of presentation you like and then other options could be suggested. You could certainly do better for not a lot of money.

Hi Martin
Thanks for taking the time to respond.
Being drawn to Neats because I previously had a pair of SX1 floorstanders and was impressed. Hence, my thoughts about Neat stand mounts.
I particularly liked their presentation which I would describe as detailed with a good wide sound stage.
I’m more than happy to be directed towards alternatives, though.
Whatever I buy, they’ll be driven by a Croft Integrated.
I don’t need speakers to go much below 45hz (just as well with stand mounts, I suppose) but I don’t want something which will only perform down to about 70hz. This is, I guess, why I’ve not gone the LS3/5a route.
Main listening includes; 70/80 rock and pop, vocal, accoustic, country etc. Not much classical or jazz.
Having had several pairs of British made, 70/80/90s speakers, this time I’d like to buy something perhaps no more than 10 years old and definitely not needing a recap or refurb. Been there - done that.
Thanks
Stuart
