You may have picked up on the fact that I like my vinyl. As I've mentioned elsewhere, I got a real kick from picking up a couple of near-mint classical albums for next-to-nothing on Saturday. (OK, I'm probably a trainspotting saddo who ought to get out more....)
However, I've got some records that I really prize not just for the music on them: for the package as a whole or for rarity etc.
eg
White label pressing of "A Change in the Weather" by Clive Gregson and Christine Collister
Original copy of "Battle of the Field" by the Albion Country Band
Red vinyl 12" single of "Forget about You" by The Motors
Original Master Recording album of "Scheherazade and other Stories" by Renaissance
and so on.
So has anyone got any records they love not just for the music??

Hawkwind - Acid Daze boxed set. Autographed by the band. :)
Jethro Tull - Broadsword & The Beast picture disc
Lab 4 - CE3 white label promo copy, again autographed by the band.
I also have a bunch of other white label promos by various well known (if you are into that style of music) DJ's.
Tangerine Dream - Zeit on OHr label.
Klaus Schulze - Trancefer..the limited to 500 different mix.
Talk Talk - Spirit of Eden 2 copies of this on the black stuff.
Neil Young - On the Beach.
and on CD Klaus Schulze - silver edition signed by the man himsel
a few others I may list when I can have a look.

Would that be the one with "The Olympian" by the Skids on it as well? Freebie from Smash Hits magazine way back. I've got that and also the previous one they did which was "Wrong Way" by Squeeze.

You should hang on to that, I've seen those go for silly money to XTC nuts like me.... (Thankfully I got mine at a car boot sale in a big bag of various flexis for a pound: I couldn't believe my luck)
Gosh, too many to list! But I like these for the music, too (I don't buy records purely for collectability)...
Highlights include very good condition early editions of The Rolling Stones first three albums.
A mint (unopened) picture disc of The Sex Pistols 'Never Mind The Bollocks', and an early edition in very good condition of 'The Piper at the Gates of Dawn' by Pink Floyd.
Near-mint copy of Deep Purple's first album on the Harvest EMI label.
I'll have a look through my 'special stash' and report back later!

I know the version was a different recording from the one on the album (Drums and Wires?) but I seem to remember there being a furore about it turning up on the B side of the "Wait Till Your Boat Goes Down" single when it was supposed to have been exclusively licensed to Smash Hits. (A similar thing happened with "Wrong Way" - it ended up on an A&M sampler album called Propaganda - No Wave II, which I subsequently picked up.)
I wish I'd bought the "Wait Till Your Boat Goes Down" single now, because the "Now here's a group who I just can't pronounce... so I'll spell it" introduction drives me mad!

fancy that, I knew it was a different version to the album and single version, but I didn't know about it being the same as the 'Wait Till... ' version, I have that single, I'll have to dig it out and compare...

That's certainly the story that went around at the time. Can you let me know and put a 30 year old rumour to bed once and for all? Maybe one day I'll get the single if I can find it in a suitable junk shop...

Totally easy mistake
It's an amazing work of art the 'Garden of earthly delights' set, especially the 'Hell' section thats shown on your purple cover.saying that i think 'The Book Of Taliesyn' would be to me a bigger prize possession..They don't make record covers like they used to.

45RPM Happiness is the road, brilliant SQ and cover art one of 2000.
Queen's first single in mint condition. Probably worth 2cents.
Jimi Hendrix single sided 7" Gloria
Wishing Tree signed copy of the CD Ostara only 2000 made.
a few others but these are the stand outs, to be honest I like all my music a lot.

I might have to scour the internet for one with more urgency now...
oh Grez, by the way, I realised I am a complete plonker... The version of Ten Feet Tall on the red flexi IS the same as the one on the B side of Wait Till Your Boat Goes Down, (I've just listened to them back to back) but it is also the same as the version on Fossil Fuel: the most readily available XTC compilation out there, AND Rag and Bone Buffet, the second most readily available XTC compilation out there.... For some reason I thought the CD versions was slightly different for all these years, but they're not.

It'd have to be my collection of Fax +49-69/450464 (http://www.discogs.com/label/Fax+%2B49-69%2F450464) CDs each of which is a limited edition & i have the whole load of CD releases. Some of the promos which are even rarer & were only given out to a few people :)
On top of that i guess i should include a few real rarities..
S.E.T.I. - SEnTIent (http://www.discogs.com/SETI-SEnTIent/release/253818), Lagowski - Teratology (http://www.discogs.com/Lagowski-Teratology/release/473564) & Legion - Shapeshifting In Abalone (http://www.discogs.com/Legion-Shapeshifting-In-Abalone/release/253812) which are all the same person under different guises, all limited to 100 recordings worldwide.
Might not be everyones cup of tea but i'm a happy chappie :eyebrows:

No no no, Pete Namlook owns the record label, it's totally independant & the recordings are rather good.
Pete features on the PK series (Peter Khulmann - his real name), maybe along with other artists. THe PS series are musicians other than himself & the PW series is a kind of combination :eyebrows:
But as you say Alex, the guy has some output :lol: Just waiting for the next email for the latest release, shouldn't be far away now :)
