View Full Version : WTD: power amplifier
I am looking for a cheap but decent power amplifier to drive a pair of Ruark Templars. This will be my daughter's first system as she moves out of the family home in the autumn, so no huge rush. The Templars are brilliant (I use another pair in my own system) but all I have to offer her to drive them is an Onkyo A-9010, which I find a little underpowered.
She doesn't need an integrated/pre since all her music comes from her phone/laptop via a Bluetooth DAC. I am very happy with the Arcam Alpha 9p in my system, so something like that, or a 10p, Delta 290, Linn LK85/140, Audiolab 8000P etc. There are some options on Ebay though I would prefer to deal with the nice people here, especially if you are in the Cambridge area to avoid posting. Would be happy to part-exchange the Onkyo if anyone is interested in that.

I am selling my ATC P1 power amp
Thanks Steve, though I imagine that's going to be way above my budget! Am looking to spend around £100-£150, there are some plausible options on Ebay but thought I'd come here first in case anyone has something suitable that's gathering dust and they'd like to move on.
Andrew, I have an Audiolab M-Pwr amp just gathering dust, it will be a little above your too budget, I would like £180 for it but I would pay the postage if you wanted it.
Andy
Thank you Andy, but I'm looking for something with significantly more power than the Onkyo amp I currently have. I appreciate the offer though.

I have a Aragon Power amp if interested spec below. Although it has 3 power amps on board I currently use it as a stereo amp it has phono and balanced inputs. I believe I have the original box and manual
Aragon 3 Channel Power Amp
Model: 8008X3
3 channels
Can be used as a 2 channel or 3 channel amp
200 watts x 3 at 8 ohms
400 watts x 3 at 4 ohms
Internal 240volt transformer is a massive 2000watts
Thanks both, the Proart looks interesting and is within budget but when I showed a picture to my daughter she rolled her eyes! I had forgotten about the WAF, or DAF in this instance. I guess I am not buying for me but for her. She will need to move for her job every few months and doesn't want big boxes (speakers aside). So, on reflection, how about a TPA3255-based chip amp, preferably with a built-in bluetooth receiver. Something like the Aiyima A80, Douk A5 Pro, Fosi BT20A pro. They are cheap enough to buy new, but if anyone has one they'd like to move on, please let me know. Thanks again for the offers and sorry for leading you up the garden path.
Search over, there's an Aiyima on its way, should do the trick.
Hope much are you wanting for the P1, might I ask?
