Hi all!!
Been here a while,so I should really do this :)

Paul here, from County Durham.Easington to be precise, but for those of you who know where this is,dont hold it against me!
Got bitten by the hi-fi/music bug about as soon as I could walk, and the vintage fascination was confirmed when I bought my first Quad 33/303,Revox A77,Sony ST5950(?) and Aiwa6900 cassette just after my 18th birthday. Still have them all...and many more additions I have encountered along the way.
Currently set up in my listening room(ok,bedroom)is...deep breath............
Castle Harlech's,2xQuad 303/33/FM4,Meridian200/263,Thorens TD125/SME3009/Shure V15III,2xRevox B77(mk1 and 2,half and quarter track)2x DBX224 nr systems,2xDBX 200 tape routers,Yamaha KX690 tape,Sony DTC 60ES dat,Marantz DR6000 cd-r,Marantz DD82 DCC,YamahaMDX793 mini-disc and last but no means least,Technics7500 Elcaset..............Its an addiction..........
As far as music tastes go,anything really,but John Martyn/Joni Mitchell/Steely Dan/Pink Floyd/Yes/Genesis/Fleetwood Mac/Bob DylanNick Drake/Fairport Convention/Led Zeppelin/Rush/Wishbone Ash/King Crimson/Ian Dury/Tom Rush/Janis Ian..a mixed bag,depends on my mood.Anyway-sites like this help me realise im not alone and many others suffer from this hi-fi illness.

Feel free to say hi!!
Best wishes to all of you out there!

Some nice toys you have there.

Good evening, Paul. Nice toys, nice music tastes, nice choice joining the best hi-fi forum on the 'net ;)

Yep, we're all afflicted, we're a dying breed, and how sad is that? Probably not that sad, in the Great Scheme of Things, but enjoy it while you can - I've heard there will be a new tax on anyone who likes to listen to music that hasn't been approved by Simon Cowell (soon to join the coalition Government, I believe*)

Any road up, enjoy your stay, find solace whilst you are here, and let's have some pictures of your system please!

(*Fair cop, Guv, I made it up - but it wouldn't surprise me!)

Welcome to AoS Paul.

Great taste in music and great kit to play it on.

Can't really add any more to what Alex has said - you have to admire the guy's writing style, either that, or he's just consumed another bottle of the Castillo San Lorenzo rioja!

Enjoy the forum

Hi again Paul :)

Add your pictures to the gallery, you'll find it here (http://theartofsound.net/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=14) :)

First of all join somewhere like photobucket, then upload your pics to photobucket or whatever picture hosting site you like. Then use the IMG code to link your pictures into your post, no point in using up all the forum space :eyebrows:

Take it from me it's easy. Set your photohosting account or albums to private & take it from there :) If you aren't sure about anything then simply ask ;)

All the best once again

I'm not sure the two have to be mutually exclusive, Barry - but you were right (and very kind with your comment) - the rioja was flowing nicely last night as we had guests, and I do find my "welcome" posts get more prosaic in direct proportion to the empty bottles stacking up! At least we didn't get into the realms of lady's clothing this time and scare Paul off too quickly! ;) Sorry Paul for digressing - but trust me, if you stick around you'll get used to it! (the digressing not cross-dressing, but never say never, hey?! :eyebrows:)

Hmm, better be careful what you say about wearing dresses - otherwise your sartorial elegance, or otherwise, may come in for critical scrutiny by the Forum's chief couturier: Marco! ;)

You buy wine at a filling station? The 'Last Chance Texaco'?

Seriously though, Tesco have the 2005 Berberana Reserva rioja on offer at half price at the moment. Not quite as good as Castellio San Lorenzo, but a good slurp nonetheless!
