View Full Version : Good budget AV amp?

My Sony STR DA1200ES still works fine, but the HDMI is only used for vidéo.
I have been having problems getting the Dolby 5.1 to work with Netflix, even though I have a "certified/Licenced" Android TV box.
So thoughts are currently to replace it, on a budget.
It will be running KEF Coda speakers and an XTZ sub. Is it worth adding Atmos speakers?

Add is 7.1 a worthy addition?

It is only used for watching movies, and big sports events, so I see no point in spending silly money on a replacement amp.
Any recommendations for an older unit I can pick up 2nd hand?

I had one of these for years, it performed well, and to my ears better than Sony's current budget model (which I now use). It cost about £350 when new, and decent examples can be had for about 50 quid.

Thanks for the info.
I have picked up another android TV box, which allows me to select the audio output, so 5.1 is working.
This gives me more time to find a decent amp, and possibly go atmos.
