Android Tablet recommendations

My current iPad is getting long in the tooth, and as I made the switch to Android phones many years ago, I am looking at buying a new android tablet.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra looks impressive, but I am not sure I need such a big screen.
Does anybody have a recommendation for a sensible option?
I will be using it casually, as a laptop replacement, streaming films etc.

Some of the Chinese offerings are very good and inexpensive. I bought a Doogee T30 pro from Amazon a year back and am well pleased with it.

I've had an Honor Pad 9 with the matching keyboard case for over a year now and am very happy with it. Honor usually have a good deal on their website so best to buy direct. If they don't, one will usually appear soon.

Of course, everything I do is probably on Chinese government servers within minutes but I keep my secret agent work separate.

It certainly seems to get good reviews.The only issue is the screen I think. While it looks fabulous even side by side with a recent high spec iPad, it does scratch easily. Don't take the screen protector it comes with off, like I did.

Apart from that, great hardware spec and a lovely OS.

Do some of the really cheap Android tablets work with Cambridge Audio's CXN100 streamer? I have Android phones and iPads, but I don't necessarily want to always have to use those for controlling the streamer.

There are - apparently - some cheap Samsung tablets. I had a flick through Computer Active yesterday in a store and there was one recommended for around £100.

Also, I think one has to look at use cases. Why does anyone want these? I saw a video about musicians wanting tablets a while back, and different people have different constraints. Some want to use them for showing scores in dark environments - presumably while playing, while others might want to run specific software.
Some software does not, as far as I know, work fully on Androids, so arguably the "best" tablets could be Windows based.

Mostly I'm happy with iPads and prepared to pay the high prices, but there are some things these can't do because of software limitations. Androids might have the same limitations - so check what is needed and what software will actually work.
This does work across different kit in different ways. There is some software which should run fine on iPads, but not on other tablets, and some which will work on others but not on iPads. So software could be a determining factor for some people.

For "generalist" applications perhaps most Androids are good enough, so a cheap one, which is reliable enough, and the "right" size and sufficient battery longevity might be good enough.

It would be crazy to spend £1k or so on a good tablet just to function as a remote control - hence my current interest in very cheap tablets.
I have little expectation that such would be anything like as good as some of the others I have.

I found a good deal on the Samsung S11, which is probably more powerful than I need, but the screen is superb.
It is also not too big.
Sure, I could have bought something cheaper, but I use my tablet for more than just web browsing.

I have a Samsung Galaxy tablet (couple of years old). Good value although it struggles to run icloud and MS Office making them almost unusable. Music and video run well..

I think the issue of one manufacturer's hardware conflicting with competitor software is probably common to all the big tech cos, so if you're largely using products from the same 'family' you're OK.

I have a Samsung A70 phone - and there are features of that I dislike with a vengeance. The Samsung specific apps seem to fight with the general apps - but I don't really know enough about it.
