Banana connectors that actually fit? Feeling dumb here...

Hey folks,

Trying to hook up speakers/sub to my amp, assuming all banana connectors are created equal. Grabbed a couple cheap ones from Amazon: one of them:

Nope—they're way too wide and won't fit on three different amps I've tried.

Saw an Amazon review blaming new EU regs making them chunkier to avoid jamming into wall sockets. 😂😂😂 Hope that's not true.

Recommendations for decent quality ones that actually work on standard binding posts? Budget-friendly preferred, but not a cheap junk.

4mm seems to be the standard for banana plugs, though looking on Amazon a few quote 4.5mm. If you'd bought some of these, it might explain the er, 'snug' fit.

There are EU regs regarding banana plugs (I think their sale as a terminated speaker wire set is not allowed), and speakers and amplifiers for EU markets have to have plugs in the terminals to dissuade banana plugs' use. So if they are removed it becomes the user's, not the manufacturers' responsibility.

That's my understanding of what's happening.

I bought some banana plugs off Amazon a few years ago, they were not expensive, and they fit perfectly. Still do.

Most loudspeaker sockets will take a plug with a 4mm diameter pin. The plugs you cite do not state the diameter of the pin.

Thanks, will go for QEDs then. Most of 4mm actually start at 4.2 at the narrowest point and go to 4.5mm/4.7mm.
