Been on a bit of a preamp journey of late,
Enjoyed had the BHK/Directstream stack up till recently until I heard (and bought) a Holo May KTE dac which significantly bettered the DIrectstream.
Ran great with the my BHK pre, but I wondered about system matching like I had done with the PS Audio Gear?
So my BHK Preamp is up for sale.
There is a slight issue with it though and this is reflected in the selling price?
There is a VERY slight hiss on one of the channels, I reached out to PS Audio tech support for advice and despite swapping out input valves the slight hiss remained.
I was advised that the solution was to replace the mainboard, a common issue with these Pre's as they get older as components age and I was quoted a cost of £800 for supply/fit and return postage of dac, fully tested with new board.
You can live with it, I know I did, but not selling it without making this clear.
It still sounds superb! My system is very transparent so was able to hear this slight hiss.
Bought this amp for £6500 from Signature Audio Systems (UK PS Aludio dealer)
because of the slight hiss issue Im selling mine for £800 delivered (UK Only)
That cost:
along with the £800 cost for replacement mainboard is a total of £1500, for a RRP 6.5K amp when new.
This is a superb souonding Pre as good as the best, and mines comes with SR Purple fuse fitted.
The hiss isnt that noticable, but the mainboard swapout would get it back to as good as new.
