I have a system of black Audiolab 8000 series equipment. Amps, Tuner and a DAC but not the CD or CDT. Currently I'm using a Marantz 5000 series CD player which (whilst it is black) is much larger.
I have borrowed a Marantz CD5001 which is more in keeping but "skips" about half a note every now and then (usually on loud passages).
I am after an 8000CD or CDT and have been looking on the auction site but they seem to go for far too much or are not working (parts only). Most other forums don't have anything Audiolab (possibly reliability issues?).
After all this time the laser &/or mechanisms are giving up.
The 8200 and 6000 series are available.
Now, I know Audiolab is not fashionable these days but I'd like to keep the rack matching. Currently I'm using a Marantz 5000 series CD player which (whilst it is black) is much larger.
Questions:
Could I get the 8000CD fixed if it goes wrong (what do I mean IF! I mean WHEN)?
Would the 6000 with its slot loading be any better? Does the CD suffer from being dragged in and out of the mechanism?
The 8200 includes a pre-amp would this interact with the 8000S OK?
Will they work with my existing 8000 series remote controls (Phillips codes)?
As all this is now second-hand dealers are not particulary interested in giving info out.
Any recommendations?
Ta for your help.
