Broken Dacs

I seem to have trouble with Dacs going faulty and not be able to get them repaired or makers that refuse to honour guarantees. Maybe I shouldn't buy from Ali Express! What seems to happen is I buy a dac advertised at 230v and when it arrives it's a 220v model. I have two dacs from Ali that share the same symptoms ie sound through my speakers like the wind blowing in the trees! My two broken dacs are beautifully made and are just dacs with no additions like head phone sockets or bluetooth. When they were working they sounded very nice so I wondered if they could be brought back to life by someone with the digital knowledge? Does anyone know of anybody that could perform this service?

It would help if you were to give details of what may have failed in these Dacs. Do they turn on, do they lock onto to a digital signal, do they emit any sound or white noise or buzzing/humming or distorted sound or pulsing of sound etc etc.

If someone is going to have to open them up to see what may have gone on, you could take a look inside and sese if there are any obviously blown or burnt components inside. Do they have an onboard power supply or an outboard separate supply and have you tested that these are working properly.

Well the first point is why would you think a specific voltage i.e. 230volts is somehow the answer ? The notional UK voltage is 230 volts, but with an allowed tolerance range of 216.2 to 253.0 volts -6% to +10%. A item sold for use in the UK should work correctly within this range. Secondly, "once bitten twice shy" ! Having had one bad experience, why seek a second, from a retailer based in China, with a less than glowing on-line customer rating, 2.3 on Trustpilot !

Tried and trusted DACs at various price points come up for sale quite often on here, from respected forum members. That's where I'd be looking.

Coincidence? Had a call about my Reimyo dac-I have for sale-just yesterday.
100 volt! But with an Oliver ‘Big bottle’ spec-made adaptor it works perfectly.
