Forgot it's now September.
So to kick off it's torrential rain. On the plus side it's let me see what the issue is with the leaking gutter - looks like the downpipe is blocked since there's gallons per minute going into the gutter from the roof and just a tiny trickle coming out of the bottom of the pipe. So some progress.
Beautiful day in London this morning. Drove back to Essex to be greeted with intermittent rain showers. :(
Sunny start again but predicted to be dull for the rest of the day with high of 17C.

Just been out for my walk, fabulous day, barely a cloud in the sky and only a gentle breeze.
Nothing like the forecast which still shows overcast with a 20 percent chance of rain.

Good of you but I'm sure it's just a simple blockage. Would have sorted it today but need some steps and my mate down the road who has some was out earlier on when I was all geared up to sort it - and I can't be arsed now.

12c and dry at the moment
Can't get hold of my mate to borrow his ladder. Not answering the door, phone goes straight to VM.
Looked like it was going to rain so went out anyway and stood on a box and used a stick to clear the gutter. Cleared quite a lot of crud out of it.
Needless to say while I was doing that it suddenly started a deluge. As soon as I was back inside it stopped and the sun is out again.
Now need to wait until it starts heavily raining again to see if the problem is fixed.

Yep - "sunshine and showers" here as well. Some of the showers have been brief but heavy. Fortunately I have no need to go outside.

It may come down to the quality of the stick you used - you get what you pay for when it comes to sticks.
Now it's 14C, with light to moderate rain expected mid-morning. The weather is forecast to improve from midday, with the temperature reaching 18C and rain free for the rest of the day.
Raining here and forecast to continue until tea-time.

Got an hour of rain at dinnertime then it brightened up.
14C with a clear blue sky. No rain expected today.
Sunny start although the forecast says it's dull... says it will be sunny later too, probably won't rain.
Sunny intervals and 19c. The weekend should be a cracker - 20 to 23c and sunny. Possibly the last BBQ opportunity of the year.

For about ten minutes it rained like I've not seen in a long time, with an accompanying wind that blew the rain in through a big window we'd just taken out. Customer appeared in full panic mode with a mop and bucket. At least there weren't carpets.
Then out came the sunshine and dried up all the rain, and my itsy bitsy labourer climbed up the ladder again :)
Same here yesterday, heaviest rain all year which exactly coincided with my having to walk to the railway station.
Starting the day here with the 'Brothers In Arms' sky.

A cloudy 13c , so far this morning
So much for the wall to wall sunshine the BBC weather app thinks we have - wall to wall clouds at the moment. My fault for planning a BBQ this evening, we’re having a roast tomorrow so that guarantees it will be hot and sunny!

My father used to BBQ at Christmas even with snow and ice on the ground.
Not sunny here but it is dry and bright and reasonably mild. Not been out yet but I don't think there's even much of a breeze.

It sort of works in that instead of water pouring down the wall it now pours out clear of the wall. I don't think I can do anything more since there's no way to re-angle it so it runs downwards to the downpipe. My first thought was the mounting must be broken which is why it angles upwards toward the middle and then down again. But the mountings are fine.
Looking at how it is mounted it seems it's always been like that, it's just taken me 28 years to notice.
20C with a cloudy, over-cast sky. Looks like it could rain but it is not forecast to do so; but then again forecasts regardless of the source, are not that precise.

Hasn't turned out too bad today. The threatening and dirty-looking rain cloud gave way to some nice white cumulus clouds, which in turn gave way to some wispy cirrus clouds.

So much for going to a car boot on the bike this morning - been raining off and on since the early hours and blowing a gale. Not the weather for doing outdoorsy, and not how I wanted to spend the eve of my busiest week in months :(
Less than four weeks to NEBO, that's something the weather can't spoil.

A damp 17c , light rain so far.
21C at the moment with a hazy blue sky. Expected to reach 26C around mid-afternoon when it will cloud over.
North - south divide in the weather - they're giving us a max of 21C today, usually it falls short of their prediction by a couple of degrees.
Currently we have the 'white T shirt washed in unimproved Persil' sky but says we will get sunshine and rain this afternoon.
Heavy rain now and it's so dark I had to put the light on to find a CD to play.

16C at the moment and sunny. Will become partially cloudy later in the day and the temperature will reach a maximum of 21 or 22C.
Already gone cloudy here but it's still bright. Time for a walk.

Today has been beautiful. Went to the pub for lunch and now back home to play some music.
You're right, Wednesday down here, is going to be rainy all day. At least it will wash the car for me!

Been mostly sunny today, quite pleasant. It even stayed sunny during a ten minute downpour, which was a bit weird.
Had torrential rain with that thunderstorm and some lightning but I think we only got the edge of it.

It has started to spit with rain here just as I was walking down to the surgery for an appointment at 10:15, only to be told my appointment is for 10:50! I know they sound similar, but when the appointment was booked I confirmed it was for 10:15, and they said "Yes".
No matter, I had my appointment at 10:17; in and out within 5 minutes!
Sunny here now in defiance of the forecast. Probably should go for a walk although feeling lazy today.

Sunny and quite warm today, until 3pm. As good a time as any to pack up and do one. And the traffic was horrendous - I'm sure some people just look out of the window, see the rain starting, and think now's a good time to take the car out for no good reason and do my bit to ruin everybody's day.
If I seem a little grumpy it's because a miscalculation in materials cost will lead to someone getting paid less this week, and that someone will probably be me :( Still, no one died, that's how I should look at it.
Traffic here's always worse when it's raining.
Rained here too, just a steady drizzle all afternoon.

Definitely getting colder in the mornings, as evidenced by my new posh kettle. The water's starting temperature has gone from 22C to 19C in just a couple of weeks. But that's water that's been in the kettle since last night - later I'll see how that compares with the water coming out of the tap after I've let it run through for a few seconds.

No North/South divide at the moment, then! Had to wear a trackie top this morning on the school run as definitely autumnal.
At least this winter I won't have to get up in the dark and the freezing cold - for the first time since I was last a student back in 1994.

Forecast is for a few hours of sunshine in the morning, so I may get to a car boot. I meant to go last week but the rain made the trip pointless. Anyone selling decent stuff stays at home when the weather's crap, and those that brave the elements have nothing worth buying.

What, you're selling the Landy? :D Anita keeps threatening to do a car boot, but when it comes to actually doing it we're both too lazy.
We've just been at bootsale number 1, and now Happy has dropped me off home, so she can visit a second bootsale! I used to quite like visiting bootsales, to look at the vinyl, CDs and any bric a brac that was interesting.
Happy is a bit of a bootsale diva, and likes to both buy and sell. She has the skill to haggle and is successful: I have seen her buy something, only for her to sell it a quarter of an hour later for four or five times what she paid!
I find it all a total bore now: there are too many 'professional' sellers there now, and the vinyl is vastly overpriced and I can't be arsed to look through the CDs and DVDs.
Fortunately the great majority of bootsales within a thirty mile radius will close end of the month; so no more having to get up at 5:00, thank goodness.
Dry start but dull and a bit of a nip in the air for the first time in a long time.
Got soaked yesterday. Lovely day so walked over to the next town to buy some CDs. By the time I came out of the shop, the blue sky had been replaced by thunder clouds. Thought I might make it back in time but no, it pissed down on me.
Needless to say blue sky and sunshine came back as soon as I was in the house again.

Completely agree with this. I think 'Sunday market' would be a better name for it. But it gets me out of the house I suppose. From about five years or so ago CD shopping was quite interesting as I think a lot of folk were dumping them in favour of streaming, but now all the decent stuff seems to have been found new homes.
Vinyl shopping is a waste of time - overpriced as you say, and much of it so rough it's depressing to see how little respect some people have for it.

"Older" - very well-produced. "Spinning the Wheel" has some proper bass your speakers will love.

Gusty winds and 80-90% chance of rain forecast for all day, with winds of 45mph. And a max temp of 13C. I went to the door at 7am and it looked like about 20mph or so. No big deal. Then this gust of easily double that came out of nowhere - that's the kind of thing that fells trees. I'm sure it'll be making the news today, because there's always places get it worse than us.
This has been on the cards for a week now, so I'd planned another stopping in day.
Same here, wind up to 45mph which is well into gale force. And rain, of course. Can't have bad weather without that.
Thursday looks like it might be half-decent, otherwise - it's autumn now.
Same here - no rain yet but winds up to 49mph. As is usual, power went off around 10 ish and only just back on. The dog is going nuts in the garden chasing leaves, he loves a day like this!
No rain here either, surprisingly. Even some blue sky and spots of sunshine.
Quite mild out but that wind is properly strong.
Driveway now covered in sand from the beach.
Good 2-3 hours work cleaning it up assuming it doesn't get even worse.
It's raining now, but when the sun comes out the wind dries it rapidly and it's like being in a sandstorm.
TBH it is a fair price to pay for living in a beach front on the rare occasions it happens.
Just empty crisp packets and pie wrappers being blown about round here.

A bright 12c so far

We're on "Gousto" meals at the moment - each recipe makes about 3 meals (supposed to be four, but we're greedy), and with the "introductory" discounts work out at about three quid a meal. When the discount period ends we sack it off till the next round of introductory offers (about 2 months apart). Delivered to us, so we're unaffected by crap weather.
Most of them are pretty good, though Anita spends an average of 40 minutes prepping and cooking. If you're halfway handy in the kitchen it's worth a go.
Oh and it's sunny here, has been all afternoon [smug emoji] :)

Real chippies have been on the decline for years, when I was in my teens there were three chippies, two corner shops and four pubs on our street in the space of 400 yards. All gone now.
No rain so far today, and quite mild, been out in just a t shirt (and pants of course).

Thai-style Basa Burger with Crispy Fries and Sriracha Mayo (it says on the card) for tea. No idea what that will be like, but giving the mayo a fancy name won't be tempting me - mayonnaise is just wrong, regardless how they tart it up. Bit of HP sauce should do the trick.
Sun's gone in but still dry, hopefully until tomorrow lunchtime, so I can get the grass cut first thing. It's already longer than the cat's legs, and she moves through it like a cat-shaped hovercraft.

Lovely day, sunny and 20c currently, will get a bit warmer. Similar tomorrow but rain expected around tea time.

Pretty dismal here, so dark I didn't even wake up until 0830 so I got in a solid 10 hour kip.
No rain though and supposed to get sunny in a bit and 21C.

The weather this week has been just as predicted, including the rain today. From tomorrow we're forecast 7 days of zero rain and plenty of sunshine, though a bit cooler. We'll see.
I'll be removing part of a customer's roof for a day or two, so zero rain would be dead handy :)

Dull start, it's actually darker now than it was when I got up 2 hours ago.
Probably would have slept longer but woken by the neighbour. Sounded like he was bouncing a basketball against the wall. Unusual, since he doesn't usually make any noise until around 2230 when he likes to do his hammering.
Heavy rain is forecast for today, but the week ahead supposed to be dry and sunny. Would stay in all day but a significant error in planning means I need to go food shopping on a Saturday. :doh:
BBC thinks it should be sunny intervals. It’s not - just a grey blanket of cloud, and it’s been raining when they said “0 % chance”. Maybe it will brighten up, still warm though.

Still raining, I don't think it's going to stop. We're going into town shortly, so I'll have to dig out a wet weather coat (got one here somewhere).
Just had a visit from a couple of Jehovah's Witnesses. Invited them in for a brew, and they were so grateful, I think they're probably used to being sent on their way. Spent an hour chatting about hifi, music, motorbikes and printing, and about 30 seconds covering the Bible.
Mrs. P spent that hour being somewhere else, she's better at saying 'not for me thanks' than I am.
Still raining, I don't think it's going to stop. We're going into town shortly, so I'll have to dig out a wet weather coat (got one here somewhere).
Just had a visit from a couple of Jehovah's Witnesses. Invited them in for a brew, and they were so grateful, I think they're probably used to being sent on their way. Spent an hour chatting about hifi, music, motorbikes and printing, and about 30 seconds covering the Bible.
Mrs. P spent that hour being somewhere else, she's better at saying 'not for me thanks' than I am.
I got accosted by two of them as I was leaving the house, some years ago.
He opens with 'Have you ever thought about the meaning of life?'
I said 'Yes, I have a degree in Philosophy.' That threw him.
One thing I don't see any more is Mormons. Used to see them quite often when I first moved here. Always young American lads who are apparantly 'Elders' even though they've barely started shaving.
Just started raining here. Still need to do food run. Bollocks.
Rain stopped so thought I'd do a quick trip to the Sainsbury.
Needless to say got half way there and it started again. By the time I came out it was a monsoon.
Had the option of waiting under the canopy with the group of over-optimistic 'It's just a shower' people but decided to go for it instead. Got soaked.

Rain hasn't let up here all day. Despite this we went into Preston for the first time in a long time. First thing to do was go into a cafe for a hot drink, as it was right next to where we'd parked and it was properly pissing down.
How cafes have changed, no builder's tea here, and no bottles of HP sauce on the tables. As soon as we sat down a pretty, Chinese-looking young lady with an American accent came over to enthusiastically tell us about their extensive selection of 'street food' from their kitchen which was closing in five minutes. So no pressure then.
No thanks, just a cappuccino for me, a hot chocolate for Mrs. P. My drink was fine, Anita's came in a squat glass beaker with no handle. How are you supposed to drink from that without burning your hand? The solution was simple, it came barely luke warm. Probably to comply with Health & Safety.
Price was 4 each - not £4.00, not £4, just 4. Saves on printing ink I suppose.
When I went to pay, in the space next to the "kitchen", I stood there getting in everyone's way like a big balding bollard for a couple of minutes while another young lady tapped it out on a little device before holding it out for me to tap my card onto. I don't think she was ready to accept my £20 note - "Oh you're paying with cash" she said, looking at my extended hand like it had a dog turd in it. Still she had the good grace to accept it and find me some change.
Did we complain about the tepid drinks? Course not, we just quietly left, feeling 10 years older than when we arrived.
But it was followed by a visit to HMV, where I got The The's latest album, reduced from £33 to £18. So the day wasn't a complete washout.
Still got a choice of three proper greasy spoons here, or if you want to go broke, Starbucks.
None of them can do a decent cup of tea though.
Rain is ongoing here. The flood at the end of the street is back, after a long absence.
The local pharmacy in the village closed down a year ago, only to be replaced by a 'Subway'. :doh:
Out of curiosity we gave it a go - and walked up to the counter to give my order. Wrong! What we had to do was go to the computer terminal, peruse the electronic menu which occupies several pages, what with all the countless options and so forth, submit and pay for your order, be given a customer number and hope for the best.
Well it was an experience, and one which won't be repeated. We will continue using the nearby cafe, where we are known, welcomed and waited upon, where there is a much more interesting range of food and drink, and can pay by cash if desired.
Will be interesting to see how long the Subway lasts; though it is open seven days a week!

It will probably last a long time, Subways are springing up everywhere. When in Preston I'm never more than 2 minutes from one.
When I go, I know exactly what I'm getting: Spicy Italian on Herbs and cheese baguette, do I want it grilled? Yes. 60 seconds under the grill then add lettuce tomatoes and peppers, and some barbecue sauce. Not the healthiest of meals, but then it's only perhaps once a month if i didn't leave for work with sandwiches. Better than McDonalds or KFC, which admittedly don't set the bar very high.
We much prefer Pret A Manger. They do good food, especially salads.

Yeah, me and thee used that one when the Wam show came to town. The only alternative to the non-existent catering at the hotel which was probably loading up on foreign food for the approaching asylum seekers.

I'd forgotten about that Subway I must have gone there for my fave torpedo which is a veggie delite (if that's what the cheese only was called, not that disgusting veggie patty) footlong loaded with all the salad, double jalapeno and ranch sauce.
Many years ago they did vouchers in the Metro to upgrade to a footling for £1. As the Veggie Delite was only like £2 then I would treat myself to a cheap tasty footlong for lunch when in the office.

Had an afternoon of gardening graft - nice in the sunshine (well as nice as work can be), but in the shade not so much.
I need to cut the grass - but it can wait until tomorrow.

How about you? Did you look happy? I've got happier-looking this last few years, people would often ask me what was up because I looked fed up. I think I just kept my happiness hidden so no one would nick it :)

Remembered we were supposed to be going to see that Spinal Tap film but only because my mate called me to say we can't go today as the bloke who has the money-off vouchers is busy.
He's also the driver so that totally put the kybosh on it. The others are younger than me and so can't walk there.

There used to be "Orange Wednesdays" 2 for 1 (my mobile was on Orange back then), now there's "Meekat Movies" (also 2 for 1). But even they weren't enough incentive for me. Last film I saw in a cinema was "Legend" with two Tom Hardys in it.
Not the fault of the cinemas, it's just that there haven't been many films this century that have interested me enough to actually leave the house to watch.
Last film I saw at the cinema was 'The Force Awakens' I think that was 2017, it was a bit crap.
