Just wanted to let everyone know of the excellent service I’ve received from Neat.
I recently picked up a pair of 2nd hand Motive SX1s (I was told they were purchased new in about 2018) but it wasn’t till I got them home that I discovered one of the binding posts had fallen out and landed in my boot.
I’ve now worked out how this probably happened and it was almost certainly due to the over-tightening of the binding post nut when speaker cable was connected (spade connectors used).
After the initial panic (thinking that it had snapped), I phoned Neat customer services and they talked me through removal of the crossover and what to look out for. I managed to reattach the post, sent photos and they confirmed that all looked OK, including solder joints. The speakers still needed testing, though.
In addition, I mentioned that some of the retaining bolts on the four mid/bass drivers looked a bit worn and they sent me out replacements (free of charge). 24 bolts duly replaced yesterday.
Great customer service. It’s what I always look for and not only does it leave a very positive impression, but also makes me want to deal with the company again in the future - perhaps when I next upgrade the speakers.
And if anyone has any thoughts about what I should do amp-wise, I’d be grateful for any recommendations (absolute max budget £2k, but prefer it to be below £1500).
From what I’ve read so far Naim and Exposure are often thought to match well.
The Motives are rated 87dB/1W and 6 ohms.
Presently running with a Croft Integrated. Am in no desperate hurry but would like to be considering options.
Thanks
