Just wanted to let everyone know of the excellent service I’ve received from Neat.
I recently picked up a pair of 2nd hand Motive SX1s (I was told they were purchased new in about 2018) but it wasn’t till I got them home that I discovered one of the binding posts had fallen out and landed in my boot.
I’ve now worked out how this probably happened and it was almost certainly due to the over-tightening of the binding post nut when speaker cable was connected (spade connectors used).
After the initial panic (thinking that it had snapped), I phoned Neat customer services and they talked me through removal of the crossover and what to look out for. I managed to reattach the post, sent photos and they confirmed that all looked OK, including solder joints. The speakers still needed testing, though.
In addition, I mentioned that some of the retaining bolts on the four mid/bass drivers looked a bit worn and they sent me out replacements (free of charge). 24 bolts duly replaced yesterday.
Great customer service. It’s what I always look for and not only does it leave a very positive impression, but also makes me want to deal with the company again in the future - perhaps when I next upgrade the speakers.
And if anyone has any thoughts about what I should do amp-wise, I’d be grateful for any recommendations (absolute max budget £2k, but prefer it to be below £1500).
From what I’ve read so far Naim and Exposure are often thought to match well.
The Motives are rated 87dB/1W and 6 ohms.
Presently running with a Croft Integrated. Am in no desperate hurry but would like to be considering options.
Thanks

+1 on Neat's customer care.
I visited the factory to pick up my Ultimatum XLS's.
Couldn't afford their stands but Bob recommended another brand at half the price without hesitation and gave me a two hour tour of the factory including a sneak listen of the soon to be released Iotas.
I've had Elite Petites and Motives also, all through Croft amps, which all made for a lovely pairing.

Thanks for the feedback.
Since posting, I’ve had a couple of emails suggesting amps which are a good match for my Neats.
Do you mind me asking which Croft(s) you’ve used with the Motives?
Thanks

At the time I think it would've been a 25 pre and 7 monos all of which I've slowly upgraded.
There's a real synergy between Neat and Croft for me, regardless of model type. I never found any Croft upgrades to significantly change the character of the original sound. Always remained hugely musical and versatile.
If I had to state musical genres it would least impress with I'd suggest techno and bright 80s polished pop, but that's just me.
Good luck with your search, and enjoy the ride.
Just a thought but Bob at Neat's a lovely fella. A musician and enthusiast. Why not give him a call and run your thinking by him ?
