Croft RIAA Phono stage signal boost

Hi all

I've had one of Glenn's phono stages for a while now (going into a Croft pre + monoblocs set).

Even with a MM or a high output MC the signal out is pretty quiet - well over 50% of the equivalent from another source such as CD/Tape/Tuner etc.

It would be way too faffy (not to mention sacrilegious) to change the innards but I wonder if anyone has experiences of using an outboard signal booster to lift the output?

Options I can see come from:

Douk (no me neither) L1MINI Mini Stereo Line Level Booster Amplifier Audio Preamp 20dB Gain + Volume Control

or

Technolink (ditto) TC-780LC BLACK Stereo Line Level Booster

Any comments/thoughts/ideas welcome please...!

That doesn't sound right at all, Glenn's phono stages are usually quite high gain.
There is usually a noticable volume difference between a phono signal and say a CD or Dac source, that's just the way it is with the CD being typically 2V output.

As for making changes to the innards I am in the opposite camp, I hae modified a few Croft amps to good effect.
