RCA connectors

Just a general query and felt it’s not really “Drawing Board”. Anyway looking to make up some interconnects and looking for some recommends on RCA connectors that aren’t the price of a completed cable each ? No more spares left in box but other than Chinese stuff there doesn’t seem to be many reasonable value ones out there but just thought I would ask.

Thanks Brian they are one I am watching the other are Edge rca . All of the stuff just seems to have got really expensive but it’s a while since I made some

Most RCA phono plugs are, IMO, of very poor quality. Fortunately I only need to use 3 pairs in my system.

I always assemble my own cables, since in the past I had to connect between various connector types, and for them I would use phono plugs from SME, Neutrik or Switchcraft.

However the plugs I choose to use now are true coaxial design types available from Action Hardware: https://actionhardware.co.uk: models PP-0410 and PP-0430, or PP-0810 and PP-0830.

Was going to say Neutrik Rean are good value. These look even better though, not dissimilar to the sort of thing QED, Cambridge etc used.

Beyond all the exotic and expensive options, I've been using the well proven Switchcraft RCA plugs for years. Cheap, reliable and easy to solder and used by i.e. Shindo Labs, Auditorium 23 and others - they cut the tip of the main conductor and solder it right at the end - but they work tremendously just as is.

Thanks for input, I do like the Switchcraft , just very straight forward problem is the cable I am looking at is 8.5mm so will struggle to fit . But appreciate the input

That is going to be a problem; even the PP-0810 and PP-0830 have a maximum cable outer diameter of 8mm.

You might get away with stripping back the outer insulation to reveal the outer screening, then connect the cable to the plug, and finish off with some heatshrink sleeving to cover the exposed screening braid.

I think the solution is that I am going to spend a bit more on the plugs and stop being such a tight wad, so I have found a cable on eBay that’s the made up so bought it and will try it out . If all good I will just pay a bit more for the connectors
